Blaine Gabbert News

Blaine Gabbert Totals 200 Yards In Spot Start

Monday, January 8, 1:51 AM

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Blaine Gabbert wasn't asked to do much in Sunday's 13-12 road win over the Los Angeles Chargers, completing 15-of-30 passes for 154 yards and an interception with five carries for 46 yards. With the Chiefs resting most of their top skill positions in a game with no playoff implications, Gabbert understandably had a difficult time moving the ball and sustaining drives. The 34-year-old veteran looked spry, though, on 25- and 14-yard scampers to set up a go-ahead field-goal drive during the fourth quarter. Gabbert served his purpose in Week 18 to bridge the gap between this meaningless contest and K.C.'s postseason endeavors, and he will head back to the sidelines as Patrick Mahomes' backup when the team hosts the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night for Wild Card action.

Daniel Jones News

Daniel Jones Has Been Throwing

Wednesday, February 28, 12:31 AM

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said that quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) started stationary throwing two weeks ago, and the team thinks he could do 7-on-7 work this spring. Jones is currently on track to be ready for the start of training camp this summer. "I have faith in Daniel (Jones) as our starting quarterback," Schoen said. Despite Jones tearing his ACL last year, the Giants continue to put their faith in him as their starter going into the 2024 season, although they won't hesitate to add a QB in the upcoming NFL draft if the situation presents itself. The 27-year-old signed a four-year, $160 million extension before the 2023 season looked pretty bad behind an atrocious offensive line last season before his injury. If Jones struggles again early in 2024, the Giants could be looking to move on from him sooner than later.
