The Houston Texans plan to place tight end Brevin Jordan (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve after he suffered a serious injury in Monday's training camp practice, a source tells Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. It's unclear exactly what injury that Jordan suffered, but the 25-year-old was coming back from a torn ACL that limited him to just two games last year. It's a brutal blow for Jordan, who had been looking good in practices this summer as he competed for playing time behind starter Dalton Schultz. With Jordan now out for the entire 2025 season, Cade Stover and Irv Smith Jr. will be competing for playing time as the TE2 in Houston behind Schultz. In his four years in the NFL (all with Houston), Jordan has 53 catches on 80 targets for 532 yards and five touchdowns in 36 games (12 starts).

Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner has looked "very promising" in training camp practices and is "currently the No. 1 tight end," according to Michael-Shawn Duggar of The Athletic. A fourth-round pick out of Michigan in the 2024 draft, Barner recorded 30 catches for 245 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games (six starts) as a rookie. Seattle released veteran tight end Noah Fant last month, which could be an indication of the confidence the organization has in Barner. However, the Seahawks also used a second-round pick in the 2025 draft at the position when they selected Elijah Arroyo, so Barner will still have in-house competition for targets and playing time.
