Cooper Kupp Unlikely to Contribute in Fantasy Playoffs

Tuesday, December 9, 2:19 PM

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper Kupp finished Week 14 as the WR19 in half-PPR formats, but it came largely on the back of a walk-in touchdown that helped to mask his low volume. Kupp has rarely been taken off the field this year, but in a passing offense run almost entirely through Jaxon Smith-Njigba, he has failed to earn more than four targets in six of his last seven outings, and Sunday's touchdown marked only his second in a Seahawks uniform. Across 12 games this season, he has topped 40 receiving yards only three times, and only once since Week 6. While fantasy managers may have relied on him throughout the year as an injury or bye week replacement, it is unlikely he finds a way into any starting lineups for the fantasy playoffs, and he is best left on the waiver wire.

Quentin Johnston News

Quentin Johnston Remains a TD-Dependent WR3 in Week 14

Saturday, December 6, 4:30 PM

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston is coming off a three-reception, 23-yard, one-touchdown game against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the passing attack still heavily depended on quick, short passes to compensate for issues along the offensive line. Johnston will face a tough matchup against Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who ranks 10th in allowing the fewest fantasy points per route. Additionally, the Eagles' pass defense ranks 24th in fantasy points allowed per dropback when in zone coverage. Johnston has struggled against zone, with a 14% target rate and 1.16 yards per route run. He is officially off the injury report after dealing with a shoulder injury, but the tough matchup, combined with the expected run-heavy game and uncertainty at quarterback, suggests he will continue to be a boom-or-bust low-end WR3, heavily reliant on scoring a touchdown.
