Darren Waller in "Tremendous Shape"

Monday, July 28, 6:11 PM

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said on Monday that tight end Darren Waller is in "tremendous shape," but the team isn't allowing that to "trick us into thinking he's in football shape." Waller was "very active" with tight ends coach Jon Embree on Monday, according to ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. The 32-year-old isn't dealing with any type of injury, but the Dolphins placed him on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp after he retired and sat out all of the 2024 campaign. Waller is back now and should serve as the team's top pass-catching TE after they traded Jonnu Smith to the Pittsburgh Steelers. There's no guarantee that he'll be anything near the type of receiver he was in his peak seasons with the Raiders, but given the shallow fantasy position of TE, Waller is at least worthy of a TE2 dart throw.

Kyle Pitts Sr. News

Kyle Pitts "As Healthy As He's Been"

Sunday, July 27, 11:17 AM

Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot said that tight end Kyle Pitts is "as healthy has he's been" in training camp. Pitts dealt with a minor foot injury earlier this offseason but was cleared before the start of training camp and isn't limited in any way this summer. That's good news as the 24-year-old looks to become a bigger part of the offense in quarterback Michael Penix Jr.'s first full season as the starting QB. The former first-rounder has been a disappointment since a 1,000-yard season in his rookie campaign. He caught 47 passes last year for 602 yards and four touchdowns. He's still young, and most fantasy managers are probably avoiding him at all costs, especially after he did nothing special in Penix's three starts to close out the 2024 season. Draft him as a TE2 and hope that the Falcons finally figure out how to use him properly.
