Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday that tight end David Njoku (leg) will go on Injured Reserve with a fibula injury that he suffered in the Week 2 loss to the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, according to Taylor Bisciotti of the NFL Network. The 30-year-old veteran was carted off the field on Sunday with what was initially being described as a knee injury. Later on, tight end Charlie Kolar left with a forearm injury, and he, too, will head to IR, leaving Oronde Gadsden as the Chargers' clear No. 1 tight end going forward. Njoku was a waiver-wire option following his performance in the season-opening loss to the Arizona Cardinals, in which he caught all five of his targets for 58 yards. He caught one of his three targets for nine yards on Sunday before suffering his injury. At the very least, Njoku will have to miss the next four games, but it is unclear yet if his fibula injury is more serious than that. Fantasy managers looking for depth at TE should definitely set their sights on Gadsden going into Week 3.

The Los Angeles Rams will not open the 21-day practice window for second-year tight end Terrance Ferguson (ankle) to return from Injured Reserve this week, head coach Sean McVay told Adam Grosbard of the Los Angeles Daily News. Ferguson has already missed the minimum of four games while on IR, but the 23-year-old is not ready to return for the team's Week 8 matchup against the winless Los Angeles Chargers. The Rams will also continue to be without veteran wideout Davante Adams (hamstring), opening up more targets and snaps for the entire tight end room that consists of Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Davis Allen, with the latter catching four passes for 20 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Ferguson has the most pass-catching upside of L.A.'s tight ends, which makes him a stash candidate in fantasy leagues despite not being ready to return until potentially Week 9. The former second-rounder from Oregon caught seven of his 12 targets for 63 yards and one touchdown in the first three games of his sophomore campaign before injuring his ankle. He is rostered in 16% of Yahoo leagues right now.
