Deebo Samuel Sr. Could Shine in San Francisco

Friday, September 4, 5:36 PM

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. is back with the organization and is ready to make an impact. Samuel spent the first six years of his career in San Francisco before heading to the Washington Commanders last season. The 30-year-old posted decent stats, 72 receptions with 727 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in 16 games. The hope is that a return to a familiar place in San Francisco will give Samuel a boost this upcoming season. Samuel is familiar with both the staff and playbook in San Francisco, which is always a good thing. The 49ers are already banged up before the season starts, which could give Samuel a boost as well. Sometimes, Samuel is a forgotten man, but he has the potential to be a top-20 player at his position.

Tetairoa McMillan in Line for More Slot Work

Wednesday, September 2, 11:24 AM

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan could see more time in the slot this season, according to Sheena Quick. Head coach Dave Canales has talked about moving McMillan around more heading into Year 2, and the Panthers used him inside at times during his rookie season as well. McMillan doesn't need much help getting involved after starting all 17 games and catching 70 passes for 1,014 yards and seven touchdowns last year. He went on to win AP Offensive Rookie of the Year. Giving him more snaps from the slot would add another wrinkle to a passing game already built heavily around him and could create some different matchups for Bryce Young to attack. McMillan will still see plenty of work outside, but Carolina appears interested in making his alignment less predictable this season.
