DeVonta Smith Misses Fourth Practice

Friday, August 1, 1:51 PM

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith (back) is missing his fourth straight practice at training camp on Friday with back tightness, according to Brooks Kubena of The Athletic. However, on the bright side, Smith warmed up with the team and also ran some sprints with trainers, suggesting that he could be close to rejoining team drills this weekend. While it's something worth keeping an eye on for the Eagles' WR2, it sounds like fantasy managers shouldn't be worried at all that it's something that will linger into the regular season. The 26-year-old former 10th overall pick in 2021 out of Alabama has been one of the best No. 2 wideouts in football since entering the league, and he has two 1,000-yard seasons and 27 total touchdowns in four years in the NFL. RotoBaller has Smith ranked on the WR2/3 borderline for the upcoming campaign.

Jauan Jennings News

Jauan Jennings Sidelined for Third Straight Day

Thursday, July 31, 3:48 PM

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings (calf) is missing a third consecutive practice on Thursday due to a calf strain. According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, Jennings is dealing with the same calf issue that bothered him earlier in the offseason. While his absence is not ideal, the veteran and the organization are going to be cautious at this point in the training camp with another month and change to go before Week 1 of the regular season. The former seventh-round pick out of Tennessee is also reportedly seeking a new contract, so he's unlikely to risk further injury while he awaits a new deal. Jennings posted nearly 1,000 receiving yards a season ago, and he could open the 2025 campaign as the clear WR1 in San Francisco after the departure of Deebo Samuel Sr. Brandon Aiyuk (knee) is a candidate to go on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to begin the regular season, which would force him to miss at least the first four games.
