The Minnesota Vikings are releasing running back DeWayne McBride as Tuesday's roster cutdown deadline approaches. McBride was selected by the Vikings in the seventh round in the 2023 NFL Draft after a stellar final season at UAB. McBride rushed 233 times for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2022. Given his college production, there might be other teams interested in picking him up. There's also a chance he ends up back with the Vikings on the practice squad. For now, it looks like second-year running back Ty Chandler is the direct backup to Alexander Mattison in 2023.

Indianapolis Colts rookie running back Evan Hull (knee), who was already placed on Injured Reserve, will now miss the rest of his first NFL season with a torn meniscus. The Colts were impressed with Hull when he was on the field and they still have high hopes for him in the future. The fifth-round selection had just one carry for one yard and caught one pass for a six-yard gain in the season opener over eight offensive snaps. The Colts still have Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the Physically Unable to Perform list for at least two more games, but they added Trey Sermon to their practice squad earlier this week to give them more RB depth behind Zack Moss, Deon Jackson and Jake Funk. Hull is only worth stashing in deep dynasty/keeper leagues.
