Dillon Gabriel News
Tuesday, August 4, 10:02 AM
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel is expected to receive more practice reps after stacking several good days in training camp, according to Cleveland.com. Head coach Todd Monken has narrowed the starting competition to Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders so both can get enough work, leaving Gabriel outside the battle for the No. 1 job. The additional reps should instead give the second-year passer a chance to strengthen his hold on a roster spot and show whether he belongs in the backup conversation. Gabriel appeared in 10 games and made six starts as a rookie, completing 110 of 185 passes for 937 yards, seven touchdowns, and two interceptions. He is not expected to work with the first-team offense based on the current rotation, but his recent play has improved his standing in the quarterback room. Gabriel remains off the standard fantasy radar, though he could become relevant in deeper Superflex formats if he earns the backup role.

Adrian Martinez News
Friday, August 21, 12:57 AM
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Adrian Martinez captained the team's offense in the second half of Thursday's preseason clash with the Los Angeles Chargers. Martinez went 8-for-17 for 57 passing yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions, and added 10 more yards and another touchdown on four scrambles in the 41-17 win. Martinez got off to an inauspicious start, going three-and-out in his first series and throwing a pick-six in his second. Martinez righted the ship on the 49ers' next possession, leading a 14-play drive that culminated in a Khalil Herbert touchdown. Martinez himself ran in for a score on the following drive, and hit Jordan Watkins for a 17-yard score on the possession after that. With Brock Purdy and Mac Jones firmly positioned ahead of him on the depth chart, the best Martinez can hope for is a solid showing in the 49ers' preseason finale on August 27 to retain his third-string role.
