DJ Moore to Have his Opportunities Maximized

Monday, August 4, 12:33 PM

The Chicago Bears will likely manufacture touches for wide receiver DJ Moore out of the backfield as well as a receiver as new head coach Ben Johnson adds wrinkles to the offense, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler writes. Moore has the ability to line up in the backfield and still end up deep downfield for targets. Fowler adds that last year, Moore was "relegated to hopeless screen plays and looked disengaged at times." This year, the Bears will "try to maximize his opportunities in a thoughtful way." The 28-year-old had career-highs in catches (96), receiving yards (1,364) and touchdowns (nine) despite the fact that Chicago's offense struggled under rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. The addition of a more creative offensive mind in Johnson, paired with the fact that Keenan Allen is out of town, is good news for Moore's 2025 fantasy value. Treat him as a low-end WR2.

Khalil Shakir "Week-to-Week" with Ankle Injury

Sunday, August 3, 10:53 AM

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir (ankle) has suffered a high ankle sprain and is considered "week-to-week," according to Bills head coach Sean McDermott. Shakir left the team's Friday practice early due to the injury. It doesn't seem like this will threaten Shakir's availability for the start of the regular season, but he could miss a good portion of the remainder of training camp. The fourth-year receiver emerged as a favorite target of Bills quarterback Josh Allen in 2024. In 15 games, Shakir recorded 76 catches for 821 yards and four touchdowns. If he were to miss time, Elijah Moore could be the leading candidate to step into his role as Buffalo's primary slot receiver. Outside receivers Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman would also be in line for more targets, as would tight end Dalton Kincaid. Shakir is currently ranked as the WR40 for PPR-scoring formats, but that could change depending on how he recovers from this injury.
