Foster Moreau Facing Uphill Battle for Playing Time in Houston

Houston Texans tight end Foster Moreau had a quiet game in his team's Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills, recording two catches for 15 yards on two targets. On the bright side, Moreau earned the second-most snaps in the crowded Texans' tight-end room ahead of second-round rookie Marlin Klein and 2024 fourth-rounder Cade Stover. However, veteran Texans tight end Dalton Schultz recorded four catches for 35 yards on eight targets against Buffalo and appears to still have a firm hold on the TE1 job in Houston. The Texans will be without wide receiver Jayden Higgins (knee) for the season and could also be missing star wideout Nico Collins (hamstring) for at least the next couple of games with a hamstring injury. Still, even if Houston continues to lean into formations that utilize multiple tight ends, Moreau's fantasy upside is likely limited as long as Schultz remains healthy.

John Bates Could See a Larger Role in Commanders Offense

Across his first two games of 2026, Washington Commanders tight end John Bates has recorded just two catches for 13 yards on three targets. However, the 28-year-old could see more playing time in his team's Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Commanders TE1 Chig Okonkwo (hamstring) is set to miss his second consecutive game with a hamstring injury. While Bates was not heavily utilized in Week 2, Washington got uninspiring production from the tight end duo of Ben Sinnott and Colson Yankoff. Bates has recorded just 74 receptions across 84 career games with the Commanders, so he's no guarantee to step in and provide fantasy-relevant production. Still, Bates could be a name to monitor in deep fantasy leagues coming out of Week 3.
