Jaxon Smith-Njigba Wants to Be an "Upgraded Version" of Himself

Tuesday, July 28, 5:48 AM

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards in 2025 on his way to winning the Offensive Player of the Year Award and finishing the year as the fantasy WR2, but he is not simply resting on his laurels. In discussing his expectations for the upcoming season, Smith-Njigba told reporters, "I want y'all to see different levels, almost a different player out there, and just kind of an upgraded version." The Seahawks were able to retain a remarkable number of starters from their Super Bowl-winning squad, but their biggest hit could come from the loss of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who schemed up big plays for Smith-Njigba through heavy motion and play action usage. With his 15.1 yards-per-reception average putting him in rarified air among players with more than 110 catches, Smith-Njigba is a possible regression candidate for 2026, but as the clear focal point of the Seahawks' offense, expectations remain high, and he is RotoBaller's WR3.

Ricky Pearsall Expected to Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery

Saturday, August 1, 9:05 AM

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on the nagging PCL injury that dates back to last season, general manager John Lynch told reporters, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Pearsall is expected to make a full recovery in time for the start of the 2027 season. The 25-year-old former first-rounder from the University of Florida has considerable upside in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense, but unfortunately, injuries have defined his career early on. Pearsall played in just 20 games in his first two NFL seasons, catching 67 of 99 targets for 928 yards and three touchdowns. Fantasy managers can obviously remove him from their draft boards in 2026. San Fran has since reunited with veteran pass-catcher Deebo Samuel Sr., who could factor into starting three-wide sets this year alongside newcomers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, although rookie second-rounder De'Zahun Stribling, who has looked good so far in training camp, might have something to say about that.
