Jeremy McNichols Opens Season on Injured Reserve

Monday, August 31, 10:02 AM

The Washington Commanders placed running back Jeremy McNichols (quadriceps) on Injured Reserve on Sunday on roster cutdown day, according to Zach Selby of the team's official website. The move leaves the Commanders with three RBs on their initial 53-man roster -- Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, and rookie Kaytron Allen. The 30-year-old McNichols was designated to return in 2026, but he will not be eligible to make his season debut until Week 5 after injuring his quad earlier in August. The former fifth-rounder by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2017 NFL draft from Boise State is entering his third year in D.C. after combining for 99 carries, 482 rushing yards, and five touchdowns in 34 games (two starts) with Washington in the last two years. McNichols has added 34 receptions for 223 yards on 43 targets as a receiver. Once McNichols returns from IR, he will most likely factor in on special teams for the Commanders, leaving him off the fantasy football radar in all leagues.

Carson Steele News

Carson Steele Back with Eagles on Practice Squad

Wednesday, September 2, 7:19 PM

Free agent running back Carson Steele has been signed to the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad, according to an announcement from the team. Steele had been with the Eagles throughout training camp and the preseason. He was uninspiring on the ground with just 59 rushing yards on 21 carries (2.8 YPC), but he made up for it as the team's leading receiver. In total, he caught 14 passes for 136 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. His dominant preseason receiving stat line wasn't quite enough to get him a roster spot, nor did any of the other 31 teams want to sign him to their 53-man roster. However, the Eagles evidently felt like he was worth bringing back as a practice squad player. Other teams can still bring him onto their 53-man roster, but for now, he'll offer depth behind Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, and Will Shipley without occupying an active roster spot. He remains off the fantasy radar in most leagues.
