Chase Brown Locked In As Bengals' RB1 In Preseason Opener

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown handled five carries for 16 yards in the 16-14 victory over the Detroit Lions in the preseason opener on Friday night. Brown didn't catch a pass in this game, but it's well established that his pass-catching ability is a key part of the Bengals' offense. Backup running back Samaje Perine mixed in for one carry and two catches, but he only played about 30.8% of the snaps compared to Brown's 69.2%. The 26-year-old back is fresh off a season with over 1,000 rushing yards and six touchdowns, along with 69 receptions and five receiving scores. Brown is one of the most dynamic running backs in one of the league's most friendly offensive environments and should be considered a strong RB1 for the 2026 season. Brown will look to keep his momentum going in next week's preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Chase Brown Being Used Across the Formation

Through the early stages of training camp, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pritcher has already dug into the deepest corners of the team's playbook, and a player seemingly at the center of everything has been running back Chase Brown. The fourth-year back has been moved all across the formation, with The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. pointing out, "Brown lines up in the slot and runs a slant one play, then takes a jet sweep the next. He's part of 20 personnel with two running backs, motions into the backfield, behind a fullback and almost any other spot imaginable." While the inclusion of some lesser used plays has led to expected inconsistencies from the offense as whole, Browns usage has been one of the most encouraging signs to come out of Bengals camp, and he could be in line for a massive workload in 2026.

Chase Brown Continues to Grow as a Receiver

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown continues to show growth as a receiver. Joe Burrow said Brown has taken another leap catching the ball this offseason, while Charlie Clifford noted that the fourth-year back lined up wide for a couple of reps during Monday's 11-on-11 work. Brown already set a franchise record for a running back, halfback, or fullback with 69 receptions last season, turning them into 437 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,019 yards and six scores, giving him 1,456 yards from scrimmage in his first full season as Cincinnati's lead back. A few snaps split out wide do not guarantee a major change in how the Bengals use him, but the look fits Brown's growing role as an all-around weapon. His receiving work remains a major part of his fantasy value, and any further expansion would make him even harder to take off the field.

Chase Brown Earns Praise from His Quarterback, Could See Massive Involvement in 2026

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown was brought up during Joe Burrow's training camp opening press conference on Wednesday, and the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback was effusive in his praise of his fourth-year backfield mate. Burrow told reporters, "He does everything. He's a complete back... He trains as a receiver all offseason, you wouldn't know that he's a running back when he's out there doing it." Burrow went on about Brown's versatility and importance to the offense before making a bold statement about his projected usage for 2026. "Obviously we're going to try to get the ball in [Ja'Marr Chase's] hands as many times as we can, but I think a close second is Chase Brown." The 2023 fifth-round pick made a career-high 69 catches on 86 targets in 2025, and if those numbers see even modest improvement in 2026, Brown could prove to be one of the safest selections in the early rounds of drafts, currently ranked as RotoBaller's RB10.

Chase Brown Remains a Solid RB1 for 2026

The Cincinnati Bengals will rely on running back Chase Brown as the lead back in 2026, as he enters his third season. The Bengals decided not to invest heavily in running backs once again this offseason. After a slow start in 2025, Brown managed to finish the season as the RB7 overall in PPR scoring. From Week 8 on, he managed to score 15-plus fantasy points in every game and was the RB4 in that stretch. With Joe Burrow fully healthy, the team hopes to get back to producing as one of the NFL's best offenses. However, Brown is still being drafted as a back-end RB1 in most fantasy drafts despite the Cincinnati offense trending back up. The 26-year-old has a chance to be the lead back in the best potential offense in the NFL, and it could boost him to land as a top-5 running back this season.

Chase Brown a Locked-in RB1 for 2026

It took Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown until Week 7 of the 2025 season to post a weekly fantasy finish inside the top 20, but from that point forward, he never looked back. Brown finished as the RB19 or better in each of his final 11 games, only twice finishing outside the top 15. The team's mid-season trade for veteran quarterback Joe Flacco helped to steady a faltering offense without three-time Pro Bowler Joe Burrow, and Brown was perhaps the biggest benefactor, finishing as the RB7 from that point forward. With Burrow at full health and Flacco back under contract to back him up, Brown's high floor remains very much intact, while a projected philosophical shift could help to raise his ceiling in 2026. Brown was one of the league's most explosive runners when the team went under center, but with the Bengals ranking 31st in the league in that category, he rarely had the opportunity to take advantage. Reports out of minicamp have suggested that the team could mix in more under-center runs, and even a modest increase, along with the offensive consistency allowed by the presumed health at quarterback, could have Brown flirting with a top-five finish. Heading into the year, he is RotoBaller's RB10, and drafters should again feel comfortable making Brown their RB1 in 2026.

Should Dynasty Managers Be Looking to Sell High on Chase Brown?

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown put together another rock-solid season in 2025, recording 1,456 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns on 301 touches across 17 games. The 26-year-old topped 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career while also setting career-highs in targets (88), receptions (69), and receiving yards (437). Brown's long-term future in Cincinnati is an open question, as he's set to play on the final year of his rookie contract in 2026. Still, he enters the year as the unquestioned lead back for the Bengals and should have a solid chance to reach 300 touches for the second consecutive season. If Cincinnati can get a fully healthy season out of quarterback Joe Burrow, Brown may also find himself playing in one of the NFL's best offenses in 2026. Dynasty managers may want to consider selling high on Brown following the 2026 season, but for now, he profiles as a player to hold due to high-end RB1 upside.

Chase Brown's Stock Back on the Rise After Surviving Another Offseason

For the third time in his young career, Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown has to be listed among the dynasty offseason winners after the team added no competition through either free agency or the NFL Draft. A fifth-round pick in 2023, Brown earned the Bengals' RB1 spot by the start of his second season, and after back-to-back top 12 finishes, he is once more in line to handle a bellcow role on one of the league's most potent offenses. Like many of his Bengals teammates, the third-year back struggled in the early stages of 2025, held back by shoddy quarterback play as Joe Burrow missed nine games with a Grade 3 turf toe injury, but by the end of the season, Brown was a legitimate fantasy league-winner. After failing to reach 50 rushing yards through any of his first six games, Brown paced as the RB6 over the final 12 weeks of the season, good enough for an overall RB8 finish. Yet, with the constant perceived threats to his job security, he heads into his age-26 season as RotoBaller's dynasty RB13. While the price to acquire is by no means cheap, especially with his value back on the rise following another quiet Bengals draft, Brown could be the exact piece needed to push contending managers into title contention.

Chase Brown an Important Name to Monitor on Night One of the NFL Draft

Cincinnati running back Chase Brown enters his fourth season with the Bengals, and seemingly his fourth season with lingering questions about his job security. The Bengals pick 10th in the upcoming NFL Draft and recently hosted Notre Dame prospect Jeremiyah Love on an official visit. Most draft analysts believe Love will be gone long before Cincinnati is on the clock, so if that is the case, or if the Bengals opt to address the bottom-dwelling defense that has held them back for years, Brown could emerge as one of fantasy's biggest winners from night one of the draft. A fifth-round selection in 2023, Brown has emerged as one of the most unheralded late-round success stories in recent years, finishing as the RB12 and RB8 over the past two seasons. While games won't be played for another five months, the Bengals appear to be heading into 2026 without any looming contract disputes and with their core of Brown, Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins at full health, which could again make them one of the most potent offenses in the league. Brown enters the final season of his rookie deal, and should Cincinnati elect to wait until the later rounds to add to the running back room, dynasty managers can take that as a vote of confidence for the 26-year-old back who may still be ascending.

Chase Brown Profiles as a High-End Dynasty Running Back Heading into 2026

After a slow start to the 2025 season, Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown heated up in the second half and posted another year of quality production. Across 17 games, the 25-year-old recorded 1,456 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns on 301 touches. Like the rest of the Bengals' offense, some of Brown's success is tied to the health of Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow. After Burrow's Week 13 return from the toe injury that cost him nine games, Brown hauled in 25 receptions on 26 targets, including three touchdown grabs. Heading into 2026, Brown appears poised to dominate backfield touches in Cincinnati again, and Burrow should be entering the year fully healthy. Brown's combination of age, role in an elite offense, and ability to rack up fantasy points as both a rusher and receiver makes him a high-end running back option in dynasty formats.

Is Chase Brown Emerging as a High-end Dynasty Asset?

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown still has one year left on his rookie contract and is hopeful to sign an extension that his representation has been working on since at least late January. Brown stands unchallenged atop the Bengals' running back depth chart, playing in all 17 games in the 2025 season with an average rush share of 70%. While his rushing touches are important, Brown sets himself apart from his peers and is a valuable dynasty asset because of his involvement in Cincinnati's passing game. With quarterback Joe Burrow at the helm from Weeks 13-17, Brown hauled in 25 of his 26 targets and scored three touchdowns through the air. Brown is a young, proven back and, despite some low-scoring weeks early in the 2025 season, earned fantasy managers over 15 PPR points in every game from Weeks 8 through 18. His consistency and potential for RB1 weeks make him a valuable dynasty piece to target in trades or during start-up drafts.

Chase Brown Working on Extension With Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown said his representation is in talks with the team about a new long-term contract extension, according to Ben Baby of ESPN. Brown, 25, is eligible for an extension after completing his third year in the NFL in 2025. "I would love to do something and be a part of this team," Brown said. "I don't want to go anywhere else." The 25-year-old finished 11th in the NFL last year with a team-high 1,456 scrimmage yards. He was also sixth among all RBs with 437 receiving yards, and he had his first 1,000-rushing campaign (1,019 yards). Given all of the other financial commitments to key players on the offensive side of the ball in Cincy, and the fact that the Bengals' defense needs a lot of help, it remains to be seen if the Bengals will extend Brown going into the final year of his deal. Regardless of his contract going into the 2026 season, Brown should at least be viewed as a low-end RB1 target as the team's No. 1 backfield option in a high-scoring offense.

Chase Brown Solidifying Himself as an RB1 Going into 2026

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown has been a workhorse for the team the last two seasons, combining for 461 rushing attempts for 2,009 yards and 13 touchdowns while also catching 123 of his 153 targets for 797 yards and nine more trips to the end zone in 33 regular-season games. In a quick-strike offense led by quarterback Joe Burrow and with one of the top receiver duos in the league in Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, it makes Brown extremely attractive in fantasy football. The 25-year-old produced his first 1,000-yard season in 2025, going for 1,019 yards and six TDs on a career-high 232 carries over 17 games to finish as a top-10 fantasy RB in half-PPR scoring. Brown has totaled 11 touchdowns (rushing and receiving) in each of the last two years. He'll be locked into the RB1 role again in Cincy in 2026 in the final year of his contract, giving him clear RB1 upside in fantasy football.

Chase Brown Will Play in Week 18

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown (illness) returned to practice on Friday and will play on Sunday in the Week 18 regular-season finale against the division-rival Cleveland Browns, according to Ben Baby of ESPN. Brown's availability for this weekend was in question after he missed the first two practices of the week due to illness. The 25-year-old will be ready to roll on Sunday, though, as he seeks the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career. He heads into the final weekend of the regular season with 219 carries for 947 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground, adding a career-high 65 catches on 82 targets for 419 yards and four more touchdowns. Brown has been money for fantasy managers down the stretch and needs to remain in all starting lineups against Cleveland. In the season opener against the Browns, Brown had 21 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Chase Brown Not Seen on Thursday

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown (illness) was not seen at the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday due to an illness, according to Ben Baby of ESPN. It's the second straight day of practice that Brown has missed this week, leaving fantasy managers to wonder if he'll play in the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday against the division-rival Cleveland Browns. We'll know more about the 25-year-old's status on Friday. If the Bengals hold Brown out in a meaningless game this weekend, Samaje Perine and rookie Tahj Brooks would split the work in Cincy's backfield in a less-than-ideal matchup against Cleveland. There's plenty of personal incentive for Brown to play in Week 18, though, as he currently sits at 947 rushing yards on the season. Brown is probably plenty motivated to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career.

Chase Brown Out With Illness on Wednesday

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown (illness) did not take part in practice on Wednesday because he was under the weather, according to the team's official website. Brown should be feeling better by the weekend and should be able to suit up for the Week 18 regular-season finale versus the division-rival Cleveland Browns. The Bengals are out of the playoff picture, but they have every intention of playing their starters to try and finish strong. Despite Cincy's disappointing season, the 25-year-old Brown has been a strong contributor for his fantasy managers, carrying the ball 219 times for 947 yards and six touchdowns on the ground in 16 starts. He's added a career-high 65 receptions for 419 yards and four more TDs on 82 targets. Brown will be looking to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time in his career, giving him plenty of incentive to finish strong for his fantasy managers.

Chase Brown Finds End Zone Twice in High-Volume Role on Sunday

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown had 22 carries for 101 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns during Sunday's Week 17 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He also caught all three of his targets for an additional 40 receiving yards. Brown capitalized on a solid matchup and an extremely favorable game script. In addition to remaining highly productive as a pass-catcher, he handled large volume on the ground and posted impressive touchdown efficiency. The 25-year-old ranks among the top 12 running backs in fantasy scoring this season, and he should continue to be started as an RB1 against the Cleveland Browns in Week 18.

Chase Brown to Have Another Dominant Performance in Week 17?

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown is coming off his best performance of the 2025 campaign. In the Week 16 win over the Miami Dolphins, he would finish with 66 yards off 12 attempts (5.5 YPC), adding four grabs for 43 yards. Even better, Brown found the end zone three times on the afternoon. With that in mind, the 25-year-old will look to keep things going in Week 17 against Arizona. The Bengals were already projected to be one of the highest-scoring teams on the slate. However, if more players get ruled out for the Cardinals defense, the Bengals offense might be even more potent. While Brown has been ceding carries to Samaje Perine in the last few weeks or so, the 2023 No. 163 overall pick is certainly still a must-start in any fantasy setup, obviously.

Chase Brown Erupts for Three Touchdowns in Win

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown delivered another great performance in Sunday's 45-21 win over the Miami Dolphins, handling 12 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown while adding four catches (four targets) for 43 yards and two more scores as a receiver. It marked the 25-year-old's first career three-touchdown game and fifth career game with multiple scores. Brown has been on a tear in the second half of the season, ranking as the RB5 in PPR points per game (20.5) after ranking as the RB33 (10.1) in Weeks 1-7. Brown will maintain his high-end RB1 status for Week 17's matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Dec 21, 2025 7:15 PM EST

Chase Brown Still in the Must-Start Conversation in Week 16

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown struggled on the ground in the last three games. However, he at least made up for it by catching 17 passes during that span. Without question, fantasy managers were expecting more from the 25-year-old after a quality 2024 campaign. Still, the upside is there, as evident by his two-touchdown effort in the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bengals have already been eliminated from postseason contention. While that could result in Brown and some of the other starters shutting it down before the end of the regular season, he should handle his usual workload versus Miami in Week 16, keeping him in the must-start conversation. That applies even more for PPR participants if Tee Higgins (concussion) can't suit up, considering Brown will presumably remain in line for additional pass-catching opportunities.
