Detroit Makes Kerby Joseph Highest-Paid Safety In League History

Wednesday, April 23, 7:25 PM

The Detroit Lions have agreed with defensive back Kerby Joseph on a four-year, $86 million extension per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. Joseph's new contract ties him to Detroit through the 2029 season, making him the highest-paid safety in NFL history. The Illinois product led his team and the league last year with nine interceptions and placed third on the Lions with 83 total tackles. He's missed just two games in his three years with the organization, notching at least 74 takedowns and four INTs in each campaign. The 24-year-old played 99% of the team's defensive snaps in 2024 and will again be a pivotal asset in Detroit's defensive backfield.

Jalen Pitre News

Jalen Pitre Signs Three-Year Extension

Friday, April 11, 10:27 AM

Houston Texans safety Jalen Pitre has agreed to a new deal with the organization on Friday. The two sides have agreed on a three-year, $39 million extension, including $29.1 million in guaranteed money. Pitre was set to enter his final year of his rookie deal, but the Texans decided to lock him up before he could enter free agency. Pitre recorded 147 tackles, eight passes defended, and five interceptions during his rookie year in 2022. Since then, Pitre has seen his stats take a dip, but he has still been an above average defender on the field. This isn't a blockbuster move, but a reasonable one to keep a valuable defender on the roster for a good price.
