Carolina Panthers wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol from an incident of contact at training camp practice on Monday. Shenault is competing for a spot on Carolina's roster heading into the 2023 regular season, so this won't help his cause as he competes with guys like Shi Smith and Damiere Byrd. The 24-year-old has yet to catch a pass through two preseason games on three targets. The former second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 caught a career-low 27 passes on 32 targets for 272 yards and one touchdown in 13 games (four starts) in his first year with the Panthers in 2022. Shenault is well off the fantasy radar in upcoming drafts.

Free-agent wide receiver K.J. Hamler (non-football illness) apparently had a visit with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday. Hamler was waived with a non-injury designation by the Denver Broncos earlier in the preseason, with this being his first known visit with another team since the move. The speedy wideout was once a popular sleeper pick in fantasy leagues but he has dealt with a variety of injuries over his three-year career. If he winds up joining the Colts, he would compete for snaps behind starters Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce.
