Is Matthew Stafford's Underwhelming Week 1 a Sign of Things to Come?

Thursday, September 17, 12:42 PM

The reigning NFL MVP, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford delivered an underwhelming performance in his team's Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Stafford completed just 15 of 25 pass attempts for 155 yards, zero touchdowns, and an interception. Stafford was a steady QB1 option for most of the 2025 season, so fantasy managers should not overreact based on one rough performance. At the same time, Stafford is beginning his age-38 season and always profiled as a likely regression candidate after his massive spike in touchdown rate last year. With his complete lack of rushing ability, Stafford needs to lead a high-powered Rams passing game to be of use to fantasy managers. Stafford remains a solid QB2 option in Week 2 against the New York Giants, but his stock is fading a bit coming off the Week 1 dud.

Patrick Mahomes Not On Injury Report For Colts Matchup

Friday, September 18, 12:48 PM

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was once again listed on the injury report with a knee injury, but was a full participant in every Kansas City practice heading into Week 2. This injury report listing will likely remain throughout the season as the Chiefs manage Mahomes ' return from his ACL injury. That said, he was practicing fully and should be considered ready to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night. Mahomes had an encouraging season debut in the 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs superstar completed 15 of 27 pass attempts (56%) for 184 yards and two touchdowns, but most encouraging was the fact that he scrambled for a 15-yard touchdown in the middle of the field. The fear surrounding Mahomes coming off the scary knee injury was that his mobility would suffer, but it appears he put those worries to rest. Mahomes should have an easier time passing the ball against a Colts defense that just allowed 41 points to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. Mahomes is ranked QB12 in our RotoBaller Week 2 rankings, making him a justifiable QB1 for fantasy managers.
