Mike Gesicki Looking To Keep Momentum Rolling In Houston

Friday, September 18, 12:34 PM

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki had an impressive performance last week in the 33-27 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he will look to keep it going this week against the Houston Texans. Gesicki led all Bengals pass catchers with five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. It was a surprising effort to say the least considering Gesicki outgained both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the win. The veteran TE has had good games in the past but hasn't shown any consistency. Another good game this week would go a long way towards considering him a reliable option at the tight end position. Gesicki will have to perform against a Houston Texans defense that was just gashed for 36 points by the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Gesicki is ranked TE21 in our RotoBaller Week 2 PPR rankings, making him a low-end TE2 with some opportunity for upside this Sunday.

Juwan Johnson News

Juwan Johnson Could Have Path to TE1 Status Against Ravens

Friday, September 18, 8:55 PM

New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson had a relatively quiet game in Week 1 against the Lions, but finished strong with three receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown. His late score came with 1:07 left in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 24 and send it to overtime. Despite a slow start, Johnson out-snapped fellow tight end Noah Fant 76-37, fortifying his role as the TE1 in a pass-heavy offense. Johnson did pop up on the injury report this week and sat out practice Wednesday due to an illness, but recorded a limited session Thursday and a full practice Friday, shedding the injury tag entirely ahead of Sunday. With star receiver Chris Olave's status up in the air for Week 2's clash against the Ravens due to a hamstring injury, Johnson could see an increased target share if Olave is unable to play. Johnson ranks as a clear TE1 if Olave sits and a high-end TE2 if he plays.
