The Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent running back Nyheim Hines to their practice squad on Tuesday after working him out, a source told Kris Rhim of ESPN. Hines was with the Chargers during training camp in the summer, so he has some familiarity with their offense already. He will have a chance to serve as the team's RB3 in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins behind Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal. Najee Harris (Achilles) is already out for the year, and now rookie first-rounder Omarion Hampton (ankle) will have to miss at least four games after being put on Injured Reserve. The 28-year-old Hines hasn't played in an NFL game since 2022 with the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills due to several knee injuries. He has mostly helped as a pass-catcher out of the backfield in his five-year NFL career, but for now, he can be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Los Angeles Rams running back Cody Schrader rushed for 48 yards on 13 carries during Saturday's preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers. He also caught two of his three targets for an additional 24 receiving yards. Through two preseason games, Schrader has a total of 140 yards. The Missouri product entered this preseason on the outside looking in. He still faces an uphill battle to make the team, as Kyren Williams, Jarquez Hunter, and Blake Corum are essentially roster locks. However, if Los Angeles opts to carry four running backs, Schrader has made a case for himself over Ronnie Rivers. Regardless of Los Angeles' final roster decisions, Schrader will be several rungs away from an impactful role. He should be left on waivers in all fantasy leagues.
