Start 'Em Sit 'Em Week 10
Ok, gang! It's time to make that final push to the fantasy playoffs. The journey has been long and littered with difficulties but we can make it. I have a lot of different leagues that are rocking in the middle and can go either way. Believe me when I tell you I want all of my fantasy teams to make it to the playoffs. But again, it's not easy. If you're sitting at 3-6, don't give up. You still have a chance to make it to the fantasy playoffs. Your focus isn't to get to the number one or two seed now. It's to get in the dance at the end of the season. There are four weeks left, and there are still bye weeks to deal with, so fantasy managers have to keep that sense of urgency down the stretch. Make sure to hit that waiver wire, fill in the blanks where you need to, and get active before your league's trade deadline. As far as this week's matchups for your starting lineup, let's see what we have cooking up for Week 10.
Start 'Em
Quarterbacks
Brock Purdy vs. TB
Brock Purdy returns from the bye week and should get Christian McCaffrey to his squad as he's returned to practice this week. Without McCaffrey in the lineup, Purdy has still been able to land inside the top 10 in points per game among fantasy quarterbacks at 18.1 per. Mind you, that's without having Brandon Aiyuk for much of the season (let's be honest, Aiyuk hasn't been able to do much even when healthy). Purdy heads into Week 10, ranked eighth in passing yards with a 64.1% completion percentage, and averaged a healthy 8.7 yards per attempt through the air. The Niners take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that will have its hands full dealing with Christian McCaffrey on the ground and gave up 291 yards and three touchdowns to Patrick Mahomes on Monday Night Football. The Bucs have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks heading into Week 10.
Russell Wilson vs. WAS
Another quarterback returning from the bye week, Wilson has stepped into the starting role for the Pittsburgh Steelers nicely. Over his last two games, Wilson ranked as a top 10 fantasy quarterback averaging 19.4 fantasy points per game. Heading into Week 10's matchup against the Washington Commanders, Wilson faces off against a defense that's allowing 17.4 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Commanders managed to put the clamps on Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, holding him to just 131 passing yards (5.5 per attempt) and also held down Daniel Jones to just 174 yards. I would dare say Russell Wilson is better than both and should be able to have a better performance against the Commanders in Week 10.
Running Backs
Aaron Jones vs. JAX
Aaron Jones has been a solid fantasy running back to this point of the season and gets a juicy matchup in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jones ranks 18th among fantasy running backs in points per game with 15.4 and ranks 16th in rushing attempts with 125 on the season. Not to mention his involvement in the Vikings passing game with 29 targets over the first nine weeks of the season (tied for 10th). The Jaguars have allowed 28.7 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs heading into Week 10 and just got cooked by Saquon Barkley's 199 total yards and two touchdowns. You should start running backs against the Jaguars' defense until further notice.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. vs. CAR
This one stings a bit because I had him on my roster for a bye week and dropped him but Tyrone Tracy Jr has come along nicely for the Giants backfield as one of the main bright spots in the Giants offense. Over his last three games, Tracy has averaged 12.4 fantasy points per game. While that might not seem like much, his involvement in the offense continues to grow as he's seen 42 carries, 234 rushing yards, and averaged 5.4 yards per attempt over that span. Tracy has even overtaken Devin Singletary for the starting role in the Giants backfield. Now he gets to face off against a Carolina Panthers defense, allowing 4.6 yards per attempt to running backs, and has given up the most rushing touchdowns (15) to opposing running backs. Like the Jaguars, start your running backs against the Panthers defense.
Wide Receivers
Brian Thomas Jr. vs. MIN
For whatever (frustrating reason), Brian Thomas Jr. was not involved in the gameplan against the Philadelphia Eagles, as he saw just four targets during the contest. Thomas has a chance to bounce back in another great-looking matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. The Vikings have allowed nearly 46 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. The Vikings are also allowing the 10th-most receiving yards to opposing wide receivers. If the Jaguars want to win the game this week (or at least have a chance at winning) they'll need to get Brian Thomas Jr. going. Thomas is averaging 17.1 yards per reception over his last three games and with Christian Kirk gone for the season, more targets should be coming his way.
Tank Dell vs. DET
Dell hasn't had the greatest of starts this season and that's likely an understatement. From weeks 1-5, Dell was sitting at the WR72, averaging just 7.4 fantasy points per game. With injuries mounting at the Texans wide receiver position as Nico Collins landed on IR and Stefon Diggs's ACL injury. Dell has seen an uptick in work. Most recently Dell dropped 126 yards on nine targets against the New York Jets. With the Detroit Lions on the docket this week, the Texans will need all hands on deck if they want to stop the bleeding of a potential three-game losing streak from forming.
Tight Ends
Dalton Kincaid vs. IND
Kincaid managed 10 targets against the Miami Dolphins but only brought in three catches in the contest. While the target share was nice to see, we haven't seen the best of Kincaid yet this year. Getting the Indianapolis Colts might be what the fantasy doctor ordered. The Colts have allowed the third-most fantasy points to the tight end position (15.6 per game). Kincaid is in a nice spot against a vulnerable defense in the Colts. I'd throw him in my lineups and go for it.
Sit 'Em
Drake Maye vs. CHI
Maye managed to have a solid game against the Tennessee Titans, finishing the contest with 15.7 fantasy points and squeezing in as a top-20 fantasy quarterback. Drake Maye may have his biggest contest yet as he gets the Chicago Bears in Week 10. The Bears have done a solid job defending against the quarterback position this season, allowing the fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks at 11.9 points per game. Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is just the latest example he posted his worst game this season
Javonte Williams vs. KC
Javonte Williams has been a "middle of the pack" (on the lower end) for fantasy this season. His road doesn't get any easier against the division rival and undefeated Kansas City Chiefs rolling into Week 10. Williams is averaging just 3.8 yards per attempt on the ground for the Denver Broncos and 10.8 fantasy points per game for fantasy managers bold enough to play him. Sean Payton has also said they want to get Audric Estime into the rotation, which could eat into Williams's starter role. The Chiefs are holding running backs to just 3.7 yards per attempt.
Calvin Ridley vs. LAC
The Chargers could be one of the worst matchups for Calvin Ridley and the Titans' passing attack in Week 10. The Chargers held down Jameis Winston and the Cleveland Browns passing attack to bad performances. Winston threw three interceptions against the tough Chargers pass defense and accounted for just one passing touchdown late in the game. The Chargers are also giving up the sixth-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers this season, just 27.1 points per game. Mason Rudolph has been doing his best to get the ball to Ridley as of late, but with Ridley being the only real threat in the Titans' passing game, they are sure to key in on him this week.
Juwan Johnson vs. ATL
The New Orleans Saints are in free fall mode and their receiver position has taken on a ton of injuries. With the status of leading wide receiver Chris Olave unknown for Week 10, Juwan Johnson didn't see an uptick in work against the Carolina Panthers after Olave was knocked out of the game. Seeing just two targets throughout the contest and watching Taysom Hill's usage go up, Johnson might not be the option to target against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are giving up nearly 12 fantasy points per game to tight ends but it might not be Juwan Johnson's number being called to help out against the NFC South rival.
