Cam Ward a Risky Option for Week 5

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward has experienced an ugly beginning to his professional career. Ward has been held to 175 passing yards or less in three of the first four games of the season. The 23-year-old looked lost last week when he completed 10-of-26 passing attempts for 108 yards with zero touchdowns and one interception in the loss. The potential is certainly there, but something big needs to change in Tennessee. That being said, Ward is an extremely risky fantasy option for the upcoming Week 5 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Cameron Ward "Growing Every Week"

Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree said that rookie first-round QB Cameron Ward is "growing every week," and that he's "seeing improvement," according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com. It didn't really look like Ward took a step forward in the 26-0 shutout loss in Week 4 to the Houston Texans, a game in which the first overall pick went 10-for-26 for 108 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception. The 23-year-old Miami product has looked overwhelmed so far in his first four NFL starts, completing only 51.2% of his 125 pass attempts for 614 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He's also run the ball nine times for 42 yards. Ward might be adapting to the speed of the game slowly, but right now, there have been more negatives than positives, and he's failed to find much of a connection with top wideout Calvin Ridley.

Cam Ward is Shaky Option for Week 4

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward (ankle, calf) is ready to go after getting in back-to-back full practice sessions. Ward was limited to begin the week due to multiple minor injuries, but is fine for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. It has been a slow start for the No. 1 overall pick. Ward has completed 54-of-99 passing attempts for 506 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in three games. It's worth noting that quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree will take over play-calling this weekend. Possibly, Hardegree can unlock something out of Ward that Brian Callahan couldn't. At the moment, Ward is really only worth a considering in superflex leagues.

Cameron Ward Practices in Full on Thursday

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward (ankle/calf) was able to log a full practice on Thursday after being limited in practice on Wednesday. Ward's status is still worth monitoring heading into Friday, but he appears to be on track to play in Week 4 against the Houston Texans. Ward has struggled in the first three games of his NFL career, completing just 54.5% of his pass attempts for 506 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Texans' defense has been one of the best units in the league so far in 2025, so Ward could be in for another rough game on Sunday. Even in two-quarterback formats, Ward should be avoided by fantasy managers in Week 4.

Cameron Ward Limited on Wednesday

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward (ankle/calf) was limited on Wednesday due to ankle and calf injuries. Fantasy managers should monitor his status in case he faces a setback later in the week. However, seeing that he was still able to practice suggests he is not in danger of missing their Week 4 contest against the Houston Texans. After tallying just 112 passing yards in his NFL debut against a tough Denver Broncos defense, Ward has gone on to average 197.0 passing yards over his last two weeks. During this stretch, Ward has thrown two passing scores with only one interception. Facing a tough Houston defense on Sunday that has allowed the sixth-fewest PPR points to opposing QBs makes Ward a low-end QB2 in all formats.

Cameron Ward Should be Benched in All Leagues Sunday

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cameron Ward remains off the fantasy radar in redraft leagues ahead of Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts. Ward has experienced plenty of growing pains through his first two NFL games, completing just 50.8 percent of his passes for a total of 287 yards, one touchdown, and two lost fumbles. He has also taken 11 sacks while rushing for just eight yards. This week, Ward takes on the Colts, who have been playing surprisingly well on both sides of the ball. Indianapolis has forced four turnovers so far this year and could have a field day against this year's No. 1 pick. Ward ranks outside the top 24 fantasy quarterbacks this week, and while he should continue to be stashed in dynasty leagues, he can be left on waivers in all redraft formats.

Cameron Ward Facing Second Consecutive Brutal Matchup in Week 2

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward struggled in his first NFL game, completing 12 of 28 pass attempts for just 112 yards and zero touchdowns against the Denver Broncos. Ward will face another excellent pass defense in Week 2 in the Los Angeles Rams, who held the Houston Texans offense to nine points and Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud to 188 passing yards in Week 1. Ward, who was sacked six times in Week 1, may have a tough time avoiding negative plays once again in Week 2. The Rams have a dominant front four led by star edge rusher Jared Verse, and the Titans will be without starting right tackle JC Latham (hip) due to a hip injury. Ward has some long-term fantasy appeal, but he should not be started in Week 2, even in Superflex leagues.

Cameron Ward Gets Tough Matchup for NFL Debut

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cameron Ward opens his NFL career on the road against the Denver Broncos in Week 1. This matchup would have an unfavorable outlook for any quarterback, and that's especially true with a rookie who has not yet played a regular-season snap. While Ward did show that he can handle tough matchups in college, a Broncos defense led by Patrick Surtain II and Nik Bonitto is a whole different beast. Fantasy managers should expect that Denver will implement a game plan intended to rattle Ward early. Whether that game plan is effective remains to be seen, but with such a difficult matchup waiting for him, Ward can be left on the bench in most fantasy leagues this week.

Titans Thrilled With Cameron Ward's Work Ethic

The Athletic's Jeff Howe writes that the Tennessee Titans "have been thrilled" with rookie first-round quarterback Cameron Ward's work ethic early on. Ward has showed up around 5 am every day during training camp to start his workout and is frequently bringing other players with him. That leadership is an important quality, although it doesn't mean that Ward isn't going to be a stud right away in his first NFL season. The 23-year-old is going to start right away for the Titans after they took him first overall in April's draft. Fantasy managers should expect a steep learning curve in an offense with Calvin Ridley as the WR1 and not much else behind him. Ward has "come as advertised," but the ups and downs he showed in the preseason are likely to continue into a very difficult Week 1 matchup on the road against a Denver Broncos defense that should be one of the best in the league again in 2025.

Cameron Ward Near Unanimous Pick as Captain

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward has quickly established himself as a leader both on and off the field. From the moment he entered the locker room, Ward carried himself with the poise and professionalism of a veteran, which earned him near-unanimous selection as a team captain. The Titans are looking to rebound from a disappointing 2024 campaign in which their offense ranked just 26th in the league. Ward's leadership, paired with playmakers like Tony Pollard and Calvin Ridley, will be crucial as the Titans aim to reignite their offensive attack and set a new tone heading into the 2025 season.

Cameron Ward Plays Two Series, Leads Touchdown Drive in Preseason Finale

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cameron Ward led a touchdown drive in his final possession of the preseason on Friday night against the Minnesota Vikings. Ward finished the night three-for-four as a passer for 36 yards and was sacked once for a loss of three. The number one overall pick played in all three of Tennessee's preseason games, completing 10 of his 19 passes for 145 yards with zero touchdowns, but also zero interceptions. Ward is the unquestioned starter for the Titans heading into his rookie campaign. He profiles as a low-end QB2 in redraft fantasy leagues who could have bursts of huge production but will likely struggle with inconsistency in his first NFL season.

Cameron Ward Looking Good in Joint Practices This Week

Atlanta Falcons reporter Joe Patrick of 929 The Game writes that Tennessee Titans rookie first-round quarterback Cameron Ward looked much better in joint practice with the Falcons on Wednesday and was taking more of what was available underneath while still connecting on some deep shots. Unexpectedly, the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft has been up and down during training camp and in the preseason opener last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 23-year-old Miami product went 5-for-8 for 67 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against the Bucs in the two drives that he played over the weekend. Most importantly, Ward continues to show a strong connection with receiver Calvin Ridley, who will no doubt be his favorite target in 2025. Ward is a much better long-term gamble in dynasty leagues than he will be in redraft formats for fantasy football.

Cam Ward Turns in Solid Preseason Debut

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward looked good during his NFL preseason debut in a 29-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. Ward, the No. 1 overall pick from Miami, played the Titans' first two possessions and went 5-for-8 for 67 yards on 14 snaps. Ward missed on his first two passes before getting into a rhythm, and he formed a nice combination with No. 1 wide receiver Calvin Ridley. The pair connected three times for 50 yards. Ward also led a 65-yard touchdown drive before exiting. Head coach Brian Callahan was encouraged by Ward's performance, saying, "Cam played well in his two series that he got." Ward and the Titans will take on the Atlanta Falcons in their second preseason game on Friday.

Cam Ward, Starters Will Play in Every Preseason Game

Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan said that rookie first-round quarterback Cam Ward and the starters will play in every preseason game. In the team's preseason opener this Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ward and the starters will get a series or two. Even before it was announced that Will Levis (shoulder) would miss all of the 2025 season, Ward, the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft, was fully expected to be the starter entering Week 1. The 23-year-old has had his ups and downs at training camp this summer, but Callahan also said that Ward has shown growth heading into his first NFL season. Ward doesn't have many options to throw to outside of receiver Calvin Ridley, and he wasn't praised for his rushing ability in the pre-draft process, so this will most likely be a learning year for the youngster from Miami. Treat him as a low-end QB2 in fantasy.

Cam Ward Says Titans Offense Has Been "Very Mid"

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward has struggled in the first two padded practices of training camp. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Miami has been off-target and has thrown several interceptions during team periods. The 23-year-old said the team's offense has been "very mid" so far, but he did not deflect blame. "At the end of the day, it all starts with me," Ward said. "I just don't think we're where we need to be, but we've got a little bit of time." Rookie quarterbacks often struggle mightily early in their first NFL offseason, especially No. 1 overall picks with limited weapons. Ward is an interesting dynasty asset, but he's unlikely to be worth a firm roster spot in 12-team redraft leagues this season. Tennessee lacks proven playmakers behind Calvin Ridley, and plenty of growing pains are expected. Ward will kick off his regular-season career in Denver against one of the league's best defenses.

Cam Ward Struggles in Tuesday's Practice

Tennessee Titans rookie first-round quarterback Cam Ward had a tough day at the office during training camp practice on Tuesday, according to Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt. Ward went 5-for-9 in a 7-on-7 period and then 6-for-17 in team periods, making him 11-for-26 overall on the day while also being intercepted three times. In four training camp practices now, the first overall pick has gone 46-for-78 with five interceptions so far. We all knew there were going to be growing pains for Ward in his first season in the NFL, and this could easily spill over into the regular season with not many weapons to throw to in the passing attack outside of WR1 Calvin Ridley. The 23-year-old signal-caller is the clear-cut starter for Tennessee now that Will Levis (shoulder) is out for the season, but because he's also not expected to run much, fantasy managers shouldn't look at him as much more than a low-end QB2 in hi first NFL season.

Cam Ward Takes All the First-Team Reps in First Practice

Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward, who was the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft, made his training camp debut on Wednesday and took all of the first-team reps, per ESPN's Turron Davenport. Now that Will Levis (shoulder) is out for the entire season while needing surgery on his right shoulder, Ward is firmly in line to start in his first year in the NFL. Back in OTAs and minicamp, the Titans used a rotation of Ward, Levis and Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. The Titans haven't officially announced Ward as its starter, but it's pretty clear that will eventually come to pass. Davenport goes on to write that most of Ward's passes were towards the middle of the field on Wednesday after most of his success in college came there as well. His first season in the NFL will be more about development and will surely come with plenty of ups and downs. Ward is a low-end QB2 heading into his first year.

Cam Ward "Not Expecting" to be handed Starting Job

Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward apparently isn't expecting to be handed the reigns heading into his inaugural campaign. "Cam's not gonna expect it to just be given to him," said offensive tackle JC Latham while speaking of the competition between the rookie and Will Levis. "Will's not just gonna sit over here and say, 'oh, we drafted him, go ahead take it.' Like both of them taking the challenge of trying to really earn the spot and really fight for the spot. It's made them better." Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, has already received praise, especially for his work ethic and leadership. However, it's unknown if his efforts will earn him the right to take over under center come Week 1. With that in mind, Ward's redraft stock isn't as favorable even if he jumps to the top of the depth chart, considering he'll presumably have some growing pains in his first season. On the other hand, he'll likely be the first quarterback off the board in most rookie drafts, even more so for dynasty managers who are willing to be patient as it relates to his development.

Cam Ward Already Emerging as a Leader

ESPN's Turron Davenport writes that Tennessee Titans rookie first-round quarterback Cam Ward is already emerging as a leader heading into his first season in the NFL. Ward organized a group of rookie receivers to come into the building at 5 am for film study and hasn't been hesitant to tell a veteran wideout how he wants a route run. Additionally, the first overall pick has bounced back quickly from his mistakes during offseason workouts. "It certainly didn't shy him away from throws," head coach Brian Callahan said. "You want to see a guy just kind of get ready and throw it again." The 23-year-old is certainly showing maturity early on, but whether it translates to immediate production on the field when games count will be another story. With limited options beyond receiver Calvin Ridley to throw to, Ward is expected to have an up-and-down rookie season, especially since he's not much of a runner.

Cam Ward Looks Good During Offseason Workouts

TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt lists Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward among the players that impressed during offseason workouts. Wyatt said he has liked everything he's seen from the first overall pick, from his play to his maturity to his leadership. Things haven't been perfect for Ward early on, but he has been consistently good and looks to be on track to start for the Titans under center in Week 1 this fall. The 23-year-old has good arm strength and plenty of experience. However, despite having mobility, he's not seen as much of a runner at the position, which will limit his true fantasy ceiling. Ward has a legitimate No. 1 receiver in Calvin Ridley, but there's not a ton else to work with outside of him. For now, Ward is a much more attractive dynasty/keeper target than he is a redraft one, even in two-QB leagues.
