The Vikings hosted Catanzaro for a workout Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Vikings have serious concerns at kicker, as Dan Bailey is in the midst of a cold spell. They also cut kicker Tristan Vizcaino from the practice squad Tuesday. Depending on how he performed in the tryout, Catanzaro has a chance to usurp Bailey as the team's starting kicker. Catanzaro played four games last season, connecting on all five field-goal attempts, including two from beyond 50 yards.

The Panthers hosted Catanzaro for a visit Thursday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro has yet to settle in with a team this season after he was released by the Giants ahead of the 2020 campaign. In his last season in the league in 2018, the 29-year-old converted on 16 of 20 field-goal attempts and 30 of 34 PAT tries across 13 games between stints in Tampa Bay and Carolina. After kicker Joey Slye missed two field goal attempts in last week's loss to Minnesota, the team could elect to bring back a familiar face to handle kicking duties.
Dec 3, 2020 4:30 PM EST
The Giants have released Catanzaro, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Analysis: With that, Graham Gano is now slated to serve as the team's new kicker, while it remains to seen if Catanzaro lands with another organization after sitting out the 2019 season.
Aug 17, 2020 9:35 AM EST
The Giants agreed to terms with Graham Gano on Sunday, signaling a kicking competition between Catanzaro and Gano, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro returned to the NFL and signed with the Giants in July after spending a year in retirement, but his road to the starting job won't be easy -- Gano is a prolific kicker who has converted 43 of his last 46 field goal attempts (93.7 percent). The 29-year-old Catanzaro is skilled as well, but his track record is a bit shakier, making just 79 percent of field goals since 2016. Expect this battle to continue through training camp, especially with no preseason games to test the waters.
Aug 16, 2020 12:28 PM EST
Catanzaro and the Giants agreed to a contract Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro will come out of retirement after having hung up his cleats last season when he was released from the Jets' reserve/left squad list. The Giants are set to release their former kicker Aldrick Rosas in the coming days, opening the door for Catanzaro to assume the starting role. In his last season in the league, the 29-year-old converted on 16 of 20 field-goal attempts and 30 of 34 PAT tries across 13 games between stints in Tampa Bay and Carolina.
Jul 26, 2020 8:47 AM EST
Catanzaro retired from the NFL on Sunday.
Analysis: Catanzaro has been shaky at best after converting 25 of 30 field-goal attempts (83.3 percent) and each of his 29 PAT tries with the Jets in 2017. Last season, the 28-year-old went 11-for-15 on field-goal attempts (73.3 percent) and 23-for-27 on PAT tries over nine games in Tampa Bay before being cut and taking his game to Carolina, where he made all five of his field goal attempts and converted seven of eight PAT tries. Catanzaro's training camp since re-upping with the Jets had been dissapointing, but the team seemed unwilling to bring in competition.
Aug 11, 2019 11:14 AM EST
Catanzaro made his lone field-goal attempt from 34 yards out but converted only one of three PAT attempts in Thursday's preseason opener against the Giants.
Analysis: Catanzaro hasn't had any kicking competition in camp, but this shaky performance could make the Jets rethink that decision. He'll need to be better as the preseason unfolds if he wants a job in the NFL when the regular season rolls around.
Aug 9, 2019 8:41 AM EST
The Jets are planning on signing a kicker to compete with Catanzaro during training camp, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro has struggled through the first few days of camp, and now, it's clear his job is far from secure. Catanzaro is coming off a tough 2018 where he converted just 80 percent of his field goal attempts.
Aug 1, 2019 12:21 PM EST
Catanzaro is signing a one-year contract with the Jets, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: The Jets wasted no time finding a replacement for Jason Myers, who signed a multi-year deal with Seattle earlier in the week. Catanzaro converted 25 of 30 field-goal attempts (83.3 percent) and each of his 29 PAT tries during his first stint with the Jets in 2017, but he was cut by the Buccaneers this past November after missing four field goals and four extra points in nine games. The 28-year-old kicker did bounce back in a late-season stint with the Panthers, and he still owns a respectable 83.8 percent field-goal conversion rate for his career. While he'll likely some competition for the kicking job this summer, Catanzaro may eventually emerge as a useful fantasy option if the Jets offense takes a big step forward after adding Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder.
Mar 15, 2019 6:42 AM EST
Catanzaro played the final four games of the 2018 regular season with the Panthers, making all five of his field-goal attempts and seven of his eight extra-point tries en route to 22 points.
Analysis: Catanzaro began the season with the division-rival Buccaneers, making 11 of 15 field goals and 23 of 27 extra points in nine games prior to being released. He wasn't out of work long, however, as a knee injury to Graham Gano caused Carolina to call. To his credit, Catanzaro made the most of his opportunity, knocking in a couple of kicks from 50-plus yards in his short stint. Although Gano is not expected to require surgery this offseason, Catanzaro surely did enough to garner interest elsewhere ahead of the 2019 campaign.
Jan 9, 2019 6:15 PM EST
Catanzaro connected on a 50-yard field goal and an extra point during Sunday's 24-10 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Sunday's 50-yarder was just Catanzaro's second field goal of 40 yards or beyond this season. Not only has the veteran kicker been limited to mostly shorter field goals this season, but he hasn't been used much at all as of late. In his last five games, Catanzaro has attempted just six field goals -- connecting on four of them. He and the Panthers face off against the Saints to end the season, a team that held Catanzaro to jus a single extra-point attempt in Week 15.
Dec 23, 2018 6:20 PM EST
Catanzaro will kick for the Panthers over the final two weeks of the regular season, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Fellow kicker Graham Gano (knee) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, leaving the job in Catanzaro's hands for the next two weeks. There isn't as much upside with Taylor Heinicke replacing Cam Newton (shoulder) at quarterback, though matchups with the Falcons and Saints at least offer some potential for the Panthers to put up points.
Dec 19, 2018 1:59 PM EST
Catanzaro did not attempt a field goal but made his lone extra-point try in Monday night's 12-9 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Catanzaro again filled in for Graham Gano (knee), and although he did all that was asked of him, his impact hardly registered on the fantasy radar. His value remains elevated as long as Gano is out, but if quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) and the offense continue to struggle, Catanzaro's scoring opportunities could remain relatively limited.
Dec 18, 2018 6:06 PM EST
Catanzaro will get the start with Graham Gano (knee) ruled out for Monday's contest, Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro made both of his field-goal attempts and extra-point attempts in the loss Sunday to the Browns and likely will be in line for plenty of work Monday thanks to the Saints' porous defense.
Dec 15, 2018 10:17 AM EST
Catanzaro made both his field-goal attempts and extra-point tries in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Catanzaro converted from 30 and 34 yards on his respective field goals during his Panthers debut. Him putting together an unblemished performance should help Carolina's comfort level while fellow kicker Graham Gano's (knee) upcoming status remains uncertain.
Dec 10, 2018 4:35 PM EST
Catanzaro will serve as Carolina's kicker in Sunday's game against the Browns with Graham Gano (knee) ruled out for the contest, Bryan Strickland of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Catanzaro will be pressed into action immediately after the Panthers first signed him to the roster earlier Friday. Per Max Henson of the Panthers' official site, coach Ron Rivera relayed that Gano is dealing with a sore (left) plant knee that could threaten the kicker's status beyond Week 14, so Catanzaro will presumably remain on the roster until there's no longer any concern about Gano's health. Catanzaro previously spent time with the Buccaneers, knocking down 11 of 15 field-goal tries and 23 of 27 extra-point attempts before being cut in November.
Dec 7, 2018 10:17 AM EST
Catanzaro signed a contract with the Panthers on Friday, dddd reports.
Analysis: Starting kicker Graham Gano is dealing with a knee injury, and the injury is apparently serious enough for the team to seek an insurance option in Catanzaro. The 27-year-old was 11-for-15 on field goals and 23-for-27 on extra-point attempts before being let go by the Buccaneers last month.
Dec 7, 2018 7:49 AM EST
The Buccaneers released Catanzaro on Monday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Bucs reached their breaking point with Catanzaro following Sunday's 16-3 loss to the Redskins. If his two missed field goals had instead gone through the uprights, the offense would have been in a position for a fourth-quarter comeback. Catanzaro ends his time in Tampa Bay 11 for 15 on field-goal attempts and 23 for 27 on point-after tries. The Buccaneers haven't pegged a replacement, but Cairo Santos and and Sam Ficken both worked out for the team within the last month.
Nov 12, 2018 11:30 AM EST
Catanzaro missed field-goal attempts of 30 and 48 yards wide right and made a 33-yarder in the Buccaneers' 16-3 loss to the Redskins on Sunday. He did not attempt any extra points.
Analysis: The veteran kicker's misses were part of a continually deflating afternoon for the Bucs offense. Catanzaro's 30-yard miss was particularly noteworthy for both its short distance and the fact it squandered a 13-play, 63-yard march that consumed 6:37 off the clock in the late first quarter and early second. Catanzaro has now hit just 73.3 percent of his field-goal attempts, and he's 0-for-3 from a 40-49-yard distance. Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports that the Bucs worked out both Cairo Santos and Sam Ficken three weeks ago, and one of them could well be on speed dial following Catanzaro's performance.
Nov 12, 2018 10:47 AM EST
Catanzaro did not see any field-goal opportunities and nailed all four of his extra-point tries in the Buccaneers' 42-28 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Analysis: Catanzaro's scoring opportunities were capped, but he at least was perfect on his point-after attempts for the fourth time this season. The veteran kicker sports 83.3 - and 85.2-percent success rates on field goals and extra points, respectively, and he should continue drawing plenty of chances to rack up fantasy production given the Buccaneers' typically prolific offense.
