Sticking with the Jets

Streveler signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets on Monday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Streveler put together a strong preseason showing with the Jets before joining the team's practice squad ahead of the regular season. The 6-foot-1 dual-threat quarterback was then elevated for three games this season. This includes the Week 16 loss to Jacksonville, in which he went 10-for-15 passing for 90 yards to go along with nine carries for 54 yards after stepping in for benched starter Zach Wilson. Streveler was also active for the Week 17 tilt against Seattle, though he did not see the field while serving as the No. 3 quarterback behind Mike White and Joe Flacco. Streveler will now look to carve out a bigger role as a backup with the Jets this offseason.

Back to practice squad

Streveler reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Analysis: Streveler was elevated to the active roster for the third time this season Week 17, meaning he won't be eligible to play Week 18 unless signed to the team's 53-man roster. While Zach Wilson will be inactive Week 18, New York has Mike White and Joe Flacco both available, so it remains to be seen whether the team will have need of Streveler's service.

Elevated ahead of Sunday

The Jets elevated Streveler from their practice squad Saturday.

Analysis: Streveler entered last week's contest against Jacksonville for an ineffective Zach Wilson and completed 10 of 15 passes for 90 yards while gaining 54 yards on nine carries on the ground. However, Mike White is set to return and start for New York on Sunday against Seattle, so Streveler is slated to work behind him and Joe Flacco. Meanwhile, Wilson will be a healthy inactive for the key matchup.

Not in Week 17 starting mix

With Mike White (ribs) cleared to return to action, Streveler isn't a candidate to start Sunday's game against the Seahwaks, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Per Cimini, Joe Flacco is in line to be the Jets' No. 2 QB in Week 17, while Zach Wilson is in line to be inactive. Streveler, who replaced Wilson during last Thursday's 19-3 loss to the Jaguars, reverted to the Jets' practice squad afterward, but it's possible that he'll be elevated again ahead of this Sunday's contest.

Replaces struggling Wilson in loss

Streveler entered Thursday night's 19-3 loss to the Jaguars with 3:31 remaining in the third quarter in place of an ineffective Zach Wilson and completed 10 of 15 passes for 90 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also rushed nine times for 54 yards and committed a fumble recovered by New York.

Analysis: Brian Costello of the New York Post reports head coach Robert Saleh said after the game the decision to insert Streveler was about trying to spark the running game and not because Wilson was struggling, yet the latter's numbers would seem to indicate otherwise. Streveler ultimately couldn't lead the Jets to any points, but he actually finished as the team leader in rushing yards on the night and handled himself reasonably well through the air. The former CFL signal-caller did get New York down to the Jaguars' 13- and 34-yard lines on his first and final possession, respectively, but he threw incomplete on fourth down to stall both drives. With the Jets not returning to action until a week from Sunday for a Week 17 road matchup against the Seahawks, it appears likely Streveler will revert to the team's practice squad for the time being and Mike White (ribs) will be healthy enough to return to the starting job for that contest.

Elevated for TNF

Streveler was activated from the practice squad ahead of Thursday Night Football versus Jacksonville.

Analysis: Streveler will be called up from the practice squad for the first time since Week 8's loss to New England. With new No. 1 quarterback Mike White (ribs) inactive, Streveler should serve as the Jets' third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Thursday's starter Zach Wilson.

Back to practice squad

Streveler reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Analysis: Streveler was elevated for the Jets' matchup against the Patriots but was surprisingly left inactive. There was a belief the dual-threat quarterback could be used in certain packages against New England, but the situation remains unclear. "We had some things going into the weekend," coach Robert Saleh said. "Not going to go into detail in terms of having the opportunity to get him up. A couple things happened, and we deactivated him." Regardless of what happened in Week 8, it appears Streveler's running ability could be utilized by New York moving forward. However, the practice-squad quarterback is now eligible for just two more elevations this season.

Gets call to active roster

The Jets elevated Streveler from their practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Streveler was signed to the Jets practice squad after being waived by the team ahead of the initial 53-man roster deadline and will suit up for the first time in Week 8. The move comes as a bit of a surprise as Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White are all healthy, but it's possible Streveler is deployed as a run-first quarterback in certain packages against New England. The undrafted product out of South Dakota rushed for over 700 yards in two different seasons in college and mustered 71 rushing yards on nine attempts during preseason action this year.

Makes practice squad

The Jets signed Streveler to their practice squad Wednesday, Randy Lange of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Streveler inks to the practice squad one day after being let go by the Jets. The 27-year-old quarterback displayed impressive efforts throughout the team's three preseason contests, as he completed 24 of 33 passes for 277 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. He also added 71 yards on nine rushes, all while leading New York to second-half comeback victories in each exhibition. Streveler will now wait for a promotion opportunity to the Jets' active roster should any of the team's current pass-throwers miss time.

Unable to secure roster spot

The Jets are scheduled to release Streveler on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Analysis: Streveler made a strong case for a spot on New York's final 53-man roster over three preseason outings, completing 72.7 of his passes for 277 yards and a 5:1 TD:INT ratio while adding nine rushes for 71 yards. Yet, the former CFL quarterback was unable to vault ahead of backups Mike White and Joe Flacco in the Jet's quarterback depth chart. With starter Zach Wilson's (knee) availability for Week 1 still up in the air, it's likely that the Jets will still attempt to bring Streveler back via the practice squad following Tuesday's anticipated transaction -- though he would have to go unclaimed off waivers for this to work out.

Continues preseason heroics

Streveler completed 10 of 13 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-27 preseason win over the Giants. He added seven yards on one rushing attempt in the preseason finale.

Analysis: Streveler had an ugly interception erased by a flag early in the fourth quarter, but he made the most of the second chance, bouncing back with touchdowns of 29 yards to Denzel Mims and five yards to Calvin Jackson. The latter touchdown won the game in the final minute as Streveler notched his third second-half comeback victory in as many games this preseason. Finding a roster spot on the Jets will be tough with Zach Wilson (knee), Joe Flacco and Mike White on the team, but New York will almost certainly look to keep Streveler in the organization with a spot on the practice squad.

Making push for roster spot

Streveler completed eight of 11 passes for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Monday's 24-16 preseason win over the Eagles. He added a team-high 33 rushing yards on six attempts.

Analysis: Streveler sparked New York's offense to life for a second consecutive preseason game, as he inherited a 16-3 third-quarter deficit from Mike White and led the Jets to another comeback victory. While the 27-year-old Streveler has an unorthodox style, he's getting results. The Jets are expected to keep three quarterbacks given the uncertainty over Zach Wilson's (knee) availability, and Streveler's quickly closing the gap between himself and White behind Wilson and Joe Flacco. A roster spot could be Streveler's for the taking if he can keep rolling in Sunday's preseason finale against the Giants.

Throws winning TD in Philly

Streveler completed six of nine passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns while adding 31 yards on two rushing attempts in Friday's 24-21 preseason win over the Eagles.

Analysis: Streveler threw a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns passes, including a five-yard strike to Calvin Jackson to put the Jets ahead for good with 16 seconds left. The 27-year-old quarterback looked comfortable running the offense, and with Zach Wilson (knee) expected to miss 2-4 weeks, Streveler should get plenty of playing time over the Jets' remaining two preseason games with the goal of securing a practice squad spot in New York or impressing another front office.

Inks deal with Jets

Streveler signed a contract with the Jets on Tuesday.

Analysis: Streveler joined the Cardinals in 2020 after a stint in the CFL. He's since spent time with the Ravens and Dolphins, but was unable to hold down a roster spot. Streveler has appeared in seven games, completing 17 of 25 passes for 141 yards, plus a touchdown and interception, all with the Cardinals. He'll likely be competing with Mike White for an eventual practice squad spot in camp.

Gets let go

Streveler was waived by the Dolphins on Wednesday.

Analysis: Streveler signed with Miami in February after a two-year stint in Arizona. He was expected to compete for a back-up job behind Tua Tagovailoa, but the Dolphins have since signed Teddy Bridgewater and drafted Skyler Thompson leaving him expendable. Streveler will now work to find a back-up job elsewhere.

Signs with Miami

Streveler signed a contract with the Dolphins on Tuesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis: Streveler has played seven career games over two seasons with Arizona, completing 17-of-25 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. He spent part of the 2021 campaign on the Ravens' practice squad, but he figures to compete for the backup job behind Tua Tagovailoa.

Restored to practice squad

Steveler (undisclosed) was restored to Baltimore's practice squad from the practice squad COVID-19 list Wednesday.

Analysis: Streveler was placed on the COVID list last week but is now clear of the health and safety protocols. He should continue to serve as quarterback depth for Baltimore.

Lands on practice squad COVID list

The Ravens placed Streveler (undisclosed) on the practice squad COVID-19 list, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.

Analysis: Streveler joined Baltimore's practice squad at the end of November but will now need to spend some time away from the team. It's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for COVID-19.

Dec 23, 2021 3:21 PM EST

Heading to Baltimore

Streveler was signed to the Ravens' practice squad Monday.

Analysis: Streveler was let go from Arizona's practice squad last week, and he's now latched on with Baltimore. He's appeared in two games this season and completed six of nine passes for 36 yards with three carries for six yards.

Nov 29, 2021 3:03 PM EST

Released Tuesday

Streveler was released by the Cardinals on Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: The quarterback was let go in a corresponding move to the addition of Trace McSorley from the Ravens. Streveler most recently stepped in to play 22 snaps in Week 10 against the Panthers, completing six passes for 36 yards. The 26-year-old will now look for another team to give him an opportunity.
