Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (finger) appears to be ready to go for the Week 8 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Thompson-Robinson was forced to exit during last week's loss due to a right middle finger injury. It appears to be a minor issue, so Thompson-Robinson will serve as the No.2 option behind Jameis Winston on Sunday. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Winston starting was from a gameplan standpoint, which means Thompson-Robinson could see time as the starter at some point. The 24-year-old is worth stashing for QB needy fantasy managers in dynasty leagues, but isn't likely to see much action or any at all as the backup.

Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey said that quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (finger) looked good throwing the football on his first day back with his finger injury in Wednesday's practice. However, the Browns will continue to evaluate how Thompson-Robinson feels this week to see if he can serve as Jameis Winston's backup on Sunday against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens. The 24-year-old injured a tendon in his right middle finger in relief of Deshaun Watson (Achilles) in the Week 7 loss to the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals, but the fact that he was a full-go in Wednesday's practice is a good sign for his availability this weekend. Cleveland added Bailey Zappe as insurance at QB in case DTR isn't active. If Winston struggles this weekend, it's possible that the Browns go back to Thompson-Robinson for Week 9 versus the Los Angeles Chargers.

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team will see how quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (finger) progresses from the finger injury he suffered in the Week 7 loss to the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals, but he will practice on Wednesday. Stefanski would like to see how DTR throws in practice this week before the team makes a decision on who will back up Jameis Winston in Week 8 against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens. The good news is that DTR's injury won't require surgery. If Thompson-Robinson is inactive on Sunday, Bailey Zappe would serve as Winston's backup with Deshaun Watson (Achilles) out for the year. Thompson-Robinson won't start in Week 8, but he could be an option to start in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers if Watson struggles against Baltimore.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (finger) injured a tendon on one of the fingers on his right (throwing) hand in the Week 7 loss to the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, although X-rays came back negative. The current belief is that Thompson-Robinson will not miss multiple weeks, but throwing the football will be a real test, according to a source. He will wear a split to help speed his recovery process when he's not throwing. Deshaun Watson is out for the year with a torn Achilles, so with DTR's status up in the air for Week 8 against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens, the Browns signed Bailey Zappe to back up veteran Jameis Winston. The 24-year-old Thompson-Robinson probably won't play this Sunday, and he could serve as Winston's backup when he gets past his finger injury.
Oct 22, 2024 3:22 PM EST
X-rays on Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson's right middle finger came back negative on Monday after he injured it in the Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Thompson-Robinson was forced into action after Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending torn Achilles. The 24-year-old is also undergoing an MRI exam to determine the severity of his finger injury. If he's deemed good to go for Week 8 against the division-rival Baltimore Ravens, the Browns must decide between DTR or veteran Jameis Winston to make the start with Watson out. The best bet is that Winston will make the start against the Ravens, but Thompson-Robinson could make a start at some point down the road in what has become a lost season for the Browns. Fantasy managers in single-QB leagues should be looking to avoid the quarterback situation in Cleveland.
Oct 21, 2024 1:07 PM EST
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (finger) may have avoided a severe injury. However, his availability moving forward will be determined based on "how he responds to treatment and how he can grip a football." With Deshaun Watson (Achilles) going down in the Week 7 meeting with the Bengals, DTR took over under center, throwing for 82 yards off 11-for-24 passing, adding 44 yards off three carries. But after he was injured, Jameis Winston entered the contest. Cleveland will next meet the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. Still, no matter who is throwing the ball, fantasy managers will have a tough time trusting any Browns quarterback until the offense shows signs of life.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson completed 13 of his 17 passes for 126 yards and one interception in a 27-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in preseason action on Saturday. Thompson-Robinson drew the start and played the entire first half of the game, giving way to Tyler Huntley after halftime. While Thompson-Robinson didn't throw for any touchdowns, he led the Browns on a scoring drive culminating in a D'Onta Foreman touchdown on their first offensive possession of the contest. Thompson-Robinson is looking to hold off Huntley for the right to open the season as the No. 3 quarterback in Cleveland behind Deshaun Watson and Jameis Winston.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson looked sharp in his team's 23-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers in their preseason opener on Saturday. Thompson-Robinson completed 14 of his 18 passes for 134 yards while adding two yards on his lone rushing attempt. The second-year signal caller led the team's lone touchdown-scoring drive in the fourth quarter, which culminated in an Aidan Robbins touchdown run. With Jameis Winston expected to serve as the team's backup QB behind Deshaun Watson this season, Thompson-Robinson is looking to beat out Tyler Huntley in the preseason to serve as the QB3 in Cleveland.
Aug 10, 2024 9:54 PM EST
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (hip) is set to have a follow-up MRI exam on his hip on Monday, and if all goes as planned, he's hoping to be back out on the field during the team's minicamp next weekend. The 24-year-old signal-caller suffered a subluxation of his hip on Christmas Eve last season and missed the rest of the year, which prompted the Browns to add veteran QB Joe Flacco. Thompson-Robinson has made good progress this offseason and is close to being cleared to throw during the team's offseason workouts. The Browns aren't going to rush him, though, and when healthy, he's going to be buried on the QB depth chart in Cleveland behind Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley.
May 5, 2024 1:05 PM EST
Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry said on Tuesday that the team might slow play things with quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (hip) as the offseason program opens on April 15. However, Berry said the signing of former Baltimore Ravens backup Tyler Huntley on March 17 was independent of Thompson-Robinson's injury. Before his season-ending injury in 2023, Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round pick out of UCLA, went 1-2 in his first three NFL starts, throwing for 440 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions. The Browns were happy with DTR's contributions as he was forced to step into a starting role in his rookie season. However, with Jameis Winston also in town, he's likely to begin training camp as the team's No. 4 QB.
Apr 2, 2024 2:27 PM EST
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (hip) has been placed on injured reserve and will not return in 2023. The rookie made three starts and eight appearances this season, completing just 53.6 percent of his passes for 440 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions. He also rushed 14 times for an additional 65 yards on the ground. With Deshaun Watson (shoulder) done for the season, too, Cleveland will continue to deploy Joe Flacco as its starting quarterback. The Browns' backup signal-caller will be P.J. Walker, who was elevated to the active roster on Tuesday.
Dec 26, 2023 12:35 PM EST
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson cleared concussion protocol this week but is still expected to operate as the backup to Joe Flacco during Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The rookie has appeared in parts of five games this season, completing just 58 of 109 passes for 429 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions, plus an additional 65 yards on the ground. Thompson-Robinson is off the fantasy radar while Flacco is a low-end QB2 option at the moment.
Dec 10, 2023 8:13 AM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) was able to practice in full on Friday and clear the league's concussion protocol, so he was removed from the final Week 14 injury report. However, head coach Kevin Stefanski has refused to name a starter between Thompson-Robinson and veteran Joe Flacco heading into Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. For what it's worth, Flacco was the first in line for drills in practices this week and didn't fall flat in his first start in 2023 in last week's loss to the Los Angeles Rams, throwing for over 200 yards and two touchdowns, although he did have a costly interception late. Regardless of who starts at QB for Cleveland, they'll be an unattractive low-end QB2 in superflex leagues and could be without top receiver Amari Cooper (concussion).
Dec 8, 2023 7:13 PM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) is practicing for the second straight day on Thursday, but he remains in the league's concussion protocol. He threw to practice-squad players during the portion of practice open to the media. Joe Flacco continues to work with the first-team offense and is fully expected to make his second straight start in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, even though the Browns have been mum on their starting QB for this week so far. The 24-year-old rookie was thrust into the starting role again in Week 11 when Deshaun Watson (shoulder) was lost for the season, but he suffered a concussion in Week 12 and was forced to sit out last week's loss to the Los Angeles Rams. As long as Flacco doesn't implode, Cleveland will likely opt for experience under center as they push for a playoff spot.
Dec 7, 2023 12:51 PM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) is expected to return to practice on Wednesday after sitting out the Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to a concussion he suffered in Week 12. It remains to be seen who would start at QB between Thompson-Robinson and veteran Joe Flacco if the rookie is cleared from the concussion protocol in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. For what it's worth, Flacco was taking first-team repetitions on Wednesday. The Browns lost in a blowout on Sunday, but Flacco wasn't terrible and had 254 passing yards and two touchdowns, so the team could give him another start this weekend, even if DTR is available to play.
Dec 6, 2023 3:20 PM EST
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol on Monday. Thompson-Robinson suffered a concussion in the Week 12 loss to the Denver Broncos and sat out in favor of veteran Joe Flacco in the Week 13 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The 24-year-old will likely go back to starting under center for the Browns when he's healthy, but he should be considered questionable, at best, to play in Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In his first action of 2023, Flacco went 23-for-44 for 254 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a serviceable performance after just recently being signed by Cleveland.
Dec 4, 2023 6:15 PM EST
Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Week 13 versus the Los Angeles Rams. Veteran Joe Flacco, who hasn't played a snap since 2022, will start in his place. The 38-year-old was inconsistent with the Jets last season but has previously shown that he's capable of supporting a serviceable offense. While he's not on the fantasy radar, the likes of Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore are fine FLEX options. Meanwhile, David Njoku is a mid-to-low TE1 and Jerome Ford, who could see increased volume, is an RB2.
Dec 1, 2023 5:10 PM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol and missed practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. Thompson-Robinson took a hard shot in late in the second half of the Week 12 loss to the Denver Broncos and never returned. The fact that he hasn't been able to get onto the practice field yet this week doesn't bode well for his chances of playing this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that the recently signed Joe Flacco (and not P.J. Walker) is now the backup to Thompson-Robinson, so if DTR doesn't get the green light for Week 13, Flacco will make his 2023 debut for the Browns. Flacco would be nothing more than a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues if he's given the starting nod.
Nov 30, 2023 6:41 PM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol and will not practice on Wednesday. Thompson-Robinson suffered a concussion on a hard hit in the third quarter of the Week 12 loss against the Denver Broncos and was removed from the game in favor of P.J. Walker, who proceeded to fumble twice (one lost). Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is out for the year. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said that veteran Joe Flacco, who was signed last week, is now the backup to Thompson-Robinson. If the rookie doesn't get cleared from the concussion protocol this week, it appears that Flacco will make his first start of 2023 on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Nov 29, 2023 3:43 PM EST
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion) left Sunday's 29-12 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday late in the second half with a concussion, but the Browns aren't making any firm plans on who will start at QB if he cannot play in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Rams. P.J. Walker replaced DTR on Sunday and went 6-for-13 for 56 yards while fumbling twice, losing one of them. Walker has played in six games (two starts) this year for Cleveland, but he hasn't been very good when called on, and the Browns recently signed veteran Joe Flacco to their practice squad after Deshaun Watson (shoulder) went on Injured Reserve. Flacco might not be much of an upgrade over Thompson-Robinson or Walker, but he has plenty of experience in big games late in the year. We'll have a better idea of DTR's status for Week 13 later this week.
