Jackson Meeks Leads Lions in Receiving Yards on Saturday

Detroit Lions tight end Jackson Meeks led his team in receiving yards in preseason action on Saturday, recording four catches for 33 yards on six targets. Meeks spent most of his rookie season in 2025 on the Lions' practice squad, appearing in two games but failing to record a single target. A college wide receiver, Meeks has made the transition to tight end ahead of his second NFL campaign. With star Lions tight end Sam LaPorta (hip) battling a hip injury that could cause him to miss regular-season time, Meeks could have a chance to step into a more prominent role. Detroit has a pair of proven veteran tight ends in Brock Wright and Tyler Conklin, so Meeks may still be a long shot to make the team's 53-man roster coming out of the preseason. Still, the young tight end convert could be a name to watch in deeper leagues.

Jackson Meeks Leads Lions in Receiving Yards, Scores Second Preseason Touchdown

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Jackson Meeks had his second straight impressive preseason performance on Saturday against the Miami Dolphins. Meeks was targeted eight times and hauled in seven catches for 93 yards and one touchdown. Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse, Meeks is making his case for a roster spot in Detroit with stellar preseason play. In three games so far, he's recorded 11 catches for 176 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions are deep at wide receiver, so Meeks is still a long shot to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, barring injury to multiple Detroit wideouts.

Jackson Meeks Shines in Lions' Preseason Win on Friday Night

Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Jackson Meeks led the team in receiving during Detroit's 17-10 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. Meeks recorded three catches on four targets for 78 yards and a touchdown. An undrafted free agent out of Syracuse, Meeks logged 78 catches for 1,021 yards and seven touchdowns in his final collegiate season in 2024. The Lions have a deep wide receiver room with players like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Tim Patrick, Kalif Raymond, and third-round rookie Isaac TeSlaa. That leaves Meeks competing for a roster spot with veterans Ronnie Bell and Tom Kennedy as well as fellow rookies Dominic Lovett and Jakobie Keeney-James. Meeks is probably still a long shot to make the team, but he may have separated himself to some degree with a strong showing on Friday.
