The Vikings signed Bargas to a reserve/future contract Monday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Bargas signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in May. The North Carolina product failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp, but he was elevated for gameday once, logging seven snaps on offense. Bargas is simply injury insurance behind C.J. Ham, who has three years remaining on his contract that averages $3.6 million per season.
Bargas reverted to the Vikings' practice squad Saturday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: An undrafted rookie out of North Carolina, Bargas made his NFL debut in Friday's 52-33 loss to the Saints because starting fullback C.J. Ham (quadriceps) was inactive. Bargas played seven of 64 snaps on offense but didn't touch the ball.
Bargas was promoted from the Vikings' practice squad Thursday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Bargas has been working with Minnesota's practice squad throughout the season, and he'll now have the opportunity to see his first NFL action Friday against New Orleans. The move comes in response to C.J. Ham's (quadriceps) questionable status for the Christmas Day clash.
Bargas was waived by the Vikings on Saturday.
Analysis: Bargas never really pushed incumbent C.J. Ham for the starting fullback role, although the undrafted rookie did ultimately wind up on Minnesota's' practice squad as insurance.
