San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody will kick off to the Seahawks in Seattle on Thanksgiving night. It's been an up-and-down season for Moody. A stretch of two games with three missed field goals -- including a game-deciding one in Cleveland -- is sandwiched between two stretches of perfection. Moody started the year nine-for-nine and has gone five-for-five since the bad two games, albeit with no tries over 39 yards during the latter streak. Seattle's defense is average and San Francisco's offense has been firing on all cylinders lately, so Moody should get opportunities to help his fantasy managers. The weather forecast looks good and so do Moody's chances for a top-five finish this week.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody has a home matchup on tap versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The rookie has calmed the waters in recent weeks following three high-profile missed field goals in losses to Cleveland and Minnesota. Since then, Moody's hit three consecutive field goal attempts and he hasn't missed an extra point all year. Tampa Bay is the 11th-stingiest team in fantasy kicker points against, but San Francisco's high-powered offense should position Moody to have a productive day as a top-10 option.

San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Duval County on Sunday. Moody, who started his NFL career a perfect nine-for-nine on field goal attempts, has gone through some growing pains of late. After missing two field goals in the Cleveland game, including a game-deciding miss, he missed his first one in Minnesota. Since then he's calmed the waters, hitting his second attempt against the Vikings and his only try versus Cincinnati. Although all of Moody's misses have been on the road, San Francisco's high-powered offense should spend enough time in Jacksonville territory on Sunday to make him a worthy play in fantasy this week.
Nov 11, 2023 3:00 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody will carry a tenuous momentum into a home matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. A week after a disastrous performance in Cleveland in which he missed two crucial kicks, including a game-deciding fourth-quarter attempt, Moody missed his first field goal attempt in Minnesota from 40 yards away. Perhaps more importantly, he hit a then-crucial fourth-quarter 55-yard field goal to get San Francisco within five points. Had he missed that kick, the 49ers may have started to look elsewhere but as it stands, Moody will continue to be a top-10 kicker as long as he holds the job and the offense stays healthy enough to consistently get into opponent territory. Consider him a back-end starter this week.
Oct 28, 2023 4:53 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody has a good chance to deliver for fantasy managers when the team goes to Minnesota to face the Vikings on Monday night. The 23-year-old had his first career field goal miss last week in Cleveland followed shortly by his second career miss, which would have been a game-winner. Instead, Moody got his first taste of NFL failure at one of the worst possible times. While he's sure to get some runway, it won't take too many more of those until the 49ers start looking elsewhere. Look for Moody to rebound with a plus performance against a mediocre scoring defense in a controlled environment. He checks in as the 10th-most productive kicker in fantasy this year so far and a worthy Week 7 start.
Oct 22, 2023 3:55 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody has started his career so far with a perfect body of work, hitting all nine field goal attempts and all 15 extra point tries. While he has shown in quick order that he is worthy of starter consideration most weeks, fantasy managers may want to look elsewhere when the 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5. Dallas' defense has allowed the second-fewest yards per game thus far in 2023 so San Francisco might not live in their opponent's territory this week like they've grown accustomed to doing. Although it might not be worthwhile to drop Moody or a bench player to pick up a better option at kicker, fantasy managers should temper their expectations of Moody this week.
Oct 7, 2023 2:49 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody will be worthy of fantasy lineups in Week 4 when the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals. Moody remained perfect for his career last week when he made field goals of 28, 21, and 36 yards and hit all three of his extra point chances. In total this year, he is nine-for-nine in field goals and nine-for-nine in extra points, good for second in total fantasy points among NFL kickers. Arizona's defense is seventh-worst in yards per game, so the excellent 49ers offense should spend significant time in Cardinals territory. With the forecast clear and a plus-matchup, fantasy managers should feel comfortable rolling into Week 4 with Moody.
Sep 30, 2023 3:22 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody has had a solid start to his NFL career, hitting six of six field goal attempts, including one from 57 yards, and making all six of his extra point chances. The 49ers will host a suspect New York Giants defense in their home opener on Thursday night which should make Moody a decent floor play since his team is likely to take quite a few snaps in New York territory. Wind shouldn't be much of a factor, as the forecast at Levi's Stadium includes gentle to moderate breezes throughout the game. Moody checks in as a playable option in 10-12 team leagues in Week 3.
Sep 21, 2023 1:20 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody had a performance on Sunday in Los Angeles against the Rams that was nearly identical to the one he had in Week 1. This week he was 3-for-3 on field goal attempts from 27, 57, and 26 yards and made all three of his extra-point attempts. The one significant difference between last week and this week, though, was the impressive distance and accuracy on his first career 50+ yard attempt, which he made with plenty of distance to spare. With the successful day, Moody is starting to build a case for being a must-roster player in most fantasy leagues. He'll look to continue the hot start to his career when the New York Giants come to the Bay Area for the 49ers home opener on Thursday night.

San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody hit field goals of 41, 32, and 40 yards with no misses last week at the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also nailed all three of his extra-point attempts. It remains to be seen whether Moody can ascend to hang around perennial top fantasy producers like Justin Tucker, Harrison Butker, and Tyler Bass, but the 49ers brass certainly think so after spending a third-round pick on him in this year's draft. Last week's performance was a great start to that end. This week the 49ers should spend plenty of time in Rams territory in Los Angeles, given San Francisco's offensive firepower and swarming defense. Fantasy managers who aren't currently rostering one of the top names could do way worse than starting Moody in Week 2.
Sep 16, 2023 12:56 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers rookie kicker Jake Moody made all three of his field goal tries and hit all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's 30-7 win at the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was an encouraging NFL debut for the third-round pick out of Michigan as he hit field goals of 41, 32, and 40 yards. Moody has the talent to ascend to top-10 status in fantasy but it remains to be seen if he can offer consistent enough production to hang with the big boys. He's worth consideration in deeper leagues next week when the 49ers take on the Rams in the mostly wind-protected environment of SoFi Stadium.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quad) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After being limited in practice this week, the rookie is on track to make his NFL debut. He's a fringe top-12 option in fantasy football but is worth rostering if you're looking for an under-the-radar kicker who could flourish in a strong offense.
Sep 8, 2023 4:01 PM EST
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quad) should be able to play in Week 1, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers head coach told reporters on Wednesday that "Just as long as he doesn't have a setback. He's looking good now and I feel good about him. I'd be surprised if he's not there." The rookie kicker has been dealing with a quad injury but has been working out off to the side during practice this week. San Francisco was worried enough about his status late last week that they signed Matthew Wright to their practice squad. But it sounds like Moody is trending in the right direction and should be good to go for Sunday's tilt at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fantasy managers that are rostering Moody will want to keep tabs on the Niners injury report this weekend, however.

San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quadriceps) was on the practice field on Monday, kicking on a side field with newly-signed practice squad kicker Matthew Wright. The third-round rookie won the job when veteran Zane Gonzalez also suffered an injury and was placed on injured reserve. As injury insurance, the Niners signed Wright to the practice squad late last week. Moody, a former All-American at Michigan, missed two field goals during preseason action. If healthy, he will be the team's starting kicker against Pittsburgh this weekend.
Sep 5, 2023 9:30 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quadriceps) is seemingly on track to play in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch provided an update on the rookie on Wednesday. The third-round rookie won the job when veteran Zane Gonzalez also suffered an injury and was placed on injured reserve. The former All-American kicker had a shaky preseason, missing two field goals but also delivering a game-winning kick in San Francisco's lone preseason win. Shanahan did mention the possibility of the team bringing in another kicker soon but this looks to be Moody's job once healthy.
Aug 31, 2023 9:15 AM EST
San Francisco 49ers kicker Jake Moody (quad) will not play in the team's final preseason game on Thursday against the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie placekicker injured his quad in practice and will be held out of the team's final preseason contest in hopes that he can be ready for Week 1. You never want to see a kicker with a leg injury but the 49ers spent some rather significant draft capital on Moody with the 99th pick overall in the 2023 draft. He's in line to replace veteran Robbie Gould so they will likely give him all the time he needs to get right. The team should provide another update on his status as we inch closer to the regular season but, for now, Zane Gonzalez is the only healthy kicker in San Francisco.
