Jordan Love: Set for backup duties again?

Love's tentative path to the starting role in Green Bay vanished Tuesday, with Aaron Rodgers agreeing to terms on a four-year, $200 million contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Analysis: Love's prospects for Year 3 in Green Bay hinged entirely on Rodgers' decision, and with the back-to-back MVP now sticking around for the foreseeable future, the 2020 first-round pick's best case scenario with the team that drafted him appears to be No. 2 duties yet again. On the other hand, the Packers still have significant salary cap issues to address, and Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Love could now be a legitimate trade option. Being dealt to a quarterback-needy team such as the Broncos or Panthers would certainly be the best outcome for the 23-year-old's fantasy prospects at the moment, and it's admittedly rare for a signal-caller drafted in the first round to never enter a season as the starter. That said, it remains to be seen whether front offices around the league are willing to exchange significant capital for the talented, but unproven Love.
