Jordan Veasy News

Exits Houston

Veasy was waived by the Texans on Tuesday.

Analysis: Veasy was in a crowded competition to provide depth at wide receiver for the Texans and ends up being one of the odd men out. The 26-year-old pass catcher has yet to appear in an NFL game during his young-career.

Catches TD

Veasy caught three of four targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 23-16 loss to Tampa Bay in preseason Week 3.

Analysis: Veasy caught the second of Davis Mills' touchdown passes, making a back-shoulder catch on a well-thrown ball by the rookie. There's little chance Veasy makes the 53-man roster.

Signs with Texans

Veasy signed a contract with the Texans on Thursday, Mark Lane of USA Today reports.

Analysis: Veasy hasn't yet appeared in an NFL game, but he'll join Houston for training camp following the recent departures of Randall Cobb and Donte Moncrief (undisclosed). The 26-year-old is a long shot to make the 53-man roster.

Cut from IR

Washington waived Veasy (undisclosed) from injured reserve Tuesday.

Analysis: Veasy reached an injury settlement with the team and will become a free agent. Once he's healthy, the 25-year-old wideout will look for a new team, although a practice squad role is his most likely landing spot.

Lands on IR

Washington placed Veasy (undisclosed) on injured reserve Saturday.

Analysis: Veasy hasn't played an NFL game since entering the league in 2018, and since he was placed on IR before the 53-man roster was set, he'll set his focus on getting healthy for the 2021 season.

Inks futures contract

Veasy signed a futures contract with the Redskins on Monday, Craig Hoffman of 106.7 The Fan reports.

Analysis: Veasy joined Washington's practice squad in early December due to a slew of wideout injuries. He will have a chance to compete for a roster spot over the course of the coming offseason and training camp. Veasy has yet to appear in an NFL game through his first two seasons.

Secures practice-squad role

Veasy signed with the Redskins' practice squad Wednesday.

Analysis: Veasy hasn't played an NFL snap since entering the league in 2018. The 24-year-old wideout was mildly productive for California in college, recording 38 receptions for 491 yards and six scores over 12 games during his senior year. Since Trey Quinn (head) and Paul Richardson (hamstring) are injured, Veasy could be elevated to the active roster if neither is ready for Sunday's game against the Packers.

Let go from practice squad

The Bills released Veasy from the practice squad Thursday.

Analysis: Veasy was let go to make room for Ray-Ray McCloud on the practice squad. The 24-year-old will look for an opportunity elsewhere in the league.

Joins Buffalo's practice squad

Veasy signed with the Bills' practice squad on Wednesday.

Jettisoned by Colts

Veasy was released by the Colts on Friday, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Analysis: Veasy went undrafted out of Cal in 2018 and spent time on Jacksonville's practice squad after initially signing with the Titans. He latched on in Indianapolis in January, but was unable to carve out a depth role in the team's receiving room.
