Keon Hatcher News

Let go by Jets

Hatcher was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: The 25-year-old finished the 2019 season on New York's practice squad and subsequently signed a reserve/future contract, but he's now looking for a new team. Hatcher last saw NFL action in three games with the Raiders in 2018.

Remaining in New York

Hatcher signed a reserve/future contract with the Jets on Monday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.

Analysis: Hatcher has been a bit of journeyman since entering the league in 2017, logging stints with the Lions, Packers, Raiders and Jets. He joined New York's practice squad back in mid-December and will look to retain a spot on the 53-man roster in 2020.

Joins Jets' practice squad

Analysis: Hatcher had been a free agent since being let go from the Packers' practice squad on Halloween. He last saw NFL action with the Raiders last season.

Joins practice squad

The Packers signed Hatcher to the practice squad Thursday.

Analysis: Hatcher spent time with the Raiders over the offseason but didn't manage to stick with the club. The Arkansas product will now have the chance to impress on Green Bay's practice squad, with the upside of being called up to the active roster as the season progresses.

Oakland's leading receiver in win

Hatcher reeled in two of three targets, accumulating 45 receiving yards during Saturday's 14-3 win against the Rams.

Analysis: The former Arkansas Razorback saw the first regular-season action of his professional career in 2018, after spending time on the Raiders, Lions and Packers practice squads over the course of his first three years in the NFL. Hatcher was Oakland's leading receiver, and the second-leading receiver for either side in what was a defensive battle Saturday night. He's on the bubble to secure a roster spot given the depth Oakland has in its receiving corps, but could make the squad if coach Jon Gruden elects to keep five or six wideouts on the active roster.

Sees first NFL action

Hatcher caught one pass for eight yards in three games with the Raiders in 2018.

Analysis: Hatcher started the season on the 53-man roster but was waived shortly thereafter, only to rejoin the Raiders in mid-November. The 24-year-old saw minimal action the two games after re-signing, and was a healthy scratch the remainder of the season. Hatcher will spend his third straight offseason in Oakland after making his NFL debut in 2018.

Lands in Oakland

The Raiders are signing Hatcher off Green Bay's practice squad Monday, Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Analysis: Hatcher will provide the Raiders with depth at the wide receiver position after Brandon LaFell (Achilles) ruptured his Achilles' tendon during Sunday's win over the Cardinals. The 24-year-old spent the last two offseasons in Oakland, and could catch on to the team's current offensive scheme relatively quickly. With Jordy Nelson (knee), Martavis Bryant (knee) and Dwayne Harris (chest) all nursing injuries, it's conceivable that Hatcher could see notable offensive usage.

Joins Green Bay practice squad

Hatcher signed with the Packers' practice squad on Tuesday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Hatcher has spent the last two offseasons with the Raiders, and while he made the 53-man roster this year, he ended up being cut after Week 1 in order to create a roster spot for Martavis Bryant. He'll now join a practice organization that is riddled with injuries at wide receiver, but Hatcher likely won't get promoted to the active roster unless the situation at the position becomes dire.

Will be waived

The Raiders will waive Hatchers, Matt Schneidman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Analysis: In need of a roster spot with Martavis Bryant joining the team, Hatcher appears to be the roster casualty as a result. If unclaimed, he will hit the open market and be free to sign elsewhere. The second-year player is also a candidate to land on a practice squad.

Makes 53-man roster

Hatcher made the Raiders' 53-man roster after a monster performance in the preseason finale, Matt Schneidman of MercuryNews.com reports.

Analysis: Hatcher was fighting for a roster spot before posting a ridiculous eight catches for 128 yards and three touchdowns against the Seahawks during Week 4 of the preseason. He'll face an uphill battle for targets during the regular season as he's currently listed at No. 6 on the depth chart, but he'll also provide depth on special teams.
