Reverts to NFI list

Adams reverted to the reserve/non-football illness list Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Analysis: Adams was waived by the Jets with a non-football illness designation Monday but will remain with the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. It's not yet clear when the 27-year-old will return to the field.

Cut with designation

The Jets cut Adams on Monday with a non-football illness designation, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.

Analysis: Adams had linked a reserve/future deal with the Jets back in January, but he will now need to search for an opportunity elsewhere once fully healthy. He spent most of the 2021 season on Chicago's practice squad and appeared in one game with the team.

Let go Monday

Adams was waived by the Jets on Monday.

Analysis: Adams inked a reserve/future contract with the Jets in January after he spent most of last season on the Bears' practice squad. A former fifth-round selection of the Vikings in 2017, Adams appeared in one game last season, and failed to catch his lone target. In a corresponding move the Jets re-signed fellow wideout, D.J. Montgomery.

Signs contract with Jets

The Jets signed Adams to a reserve/future contract Thursday, Ethan Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.

Analysis: Adams spent most of the season on the Bears' practice squad and was targeted just once in his lone regular-season appearance. He'll now attempt to carve out a role with the Jets during the offseason.

Reverted to practice squad

Adams was reverted to Chicago's practice squad Monday.

Analysis: The 27-year-old was active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, failing to draw a target. With Allen Robinson (hamstring) and Marquise Goodwin (foot) expected back soon, there wasn't any room for Adams on the active roster.

Sees first action of season

Adams failed to catch his lone target in the Bears' 33-22 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.

Analysis: After an impressive training camp, it took injuries to Allen Robinson (hamstring) and Marquise Goodwin (foot) to see his first action of the season. Unless his role in the offense grows significantly, his fantasy value will be minimal.

Promoted to active roster

Adams was elevated to the active roster from the Bears' practice squad Saturday.

Analysis: Adams was waived by the Bears after spending all of training camp with the team, and he has since been a member of the practice squad. With Marquise Goodwin (foot) out and Allen Robinson (hamstring) doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Adams is set to make his regular-season debut. He should be expected to play primarily on special teams.

Sent to waivers

The Bears waived Adams on Wednesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Analysis: Adams had a solid preseason and displayed chemistry with Justin Fields, so the Bears will likely consider adding him to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers. The 2017 fifth-round pick is still looking for a chance to make his NFL debut.

Targeted four times

Adams caught three passes for 15 yards in the Bears' 27-24 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday.

Analysis: With tight end Jesper Horsted being the only Chicago receiver with more than 19 yards, the 15 yards Adams posted was mostly due to Justin Fields throwing short passes during the first half. On his fourth target, Adams made a leaping catch, but replay overturned it. After showing solid chemistry with Fields in each preseason game, it would appear that Adams has a realistic chance of making the regular-season roster.

Another strong outing

Adams caught three passes for 89 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's 41-15 preseason loss to the Bills on Saturday.

Analysis: Adams made an adjustment on an underthrown pass from Andy Dalton, snatching the ball off a defender's helmet, and after the defender fell, he ran unchallenged the rest of the way on a 73-yard touchdown. For the second week in a row, he led the team in receiving, as he's making a push to secure a roster spot, and the fact he was on the field with the first-unit offense seems to indicate that the team is taking a serious look at him. Should he make the team, he won't be facing an insurmountable depth chart behind Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney, so it's possible his fantasy value could climb if he makes the regular-season roster.

Solid debut

Justin Fields said that he and Adams "have had a great connection in training camp, and I trust him a lot", Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Although Adams is battling for a roster spot despite being drafted by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 2017 draft, the 26-year-old led the Bears with four catches for 57 yards on six targets in the preseason opener. If he can build on his success, he's not facing a monumental climb up a depth chart that has many question marks after Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney, but for now, his fantasy value cannot be fully determined until he plays more in the preseason.

Signs future deal

Adams signed a reserve/future contract with the Bears on Monday.

Analysis: Adams spent some time with the Bears' practice squad this year and has now earned himself a future deal in Chicago. After using his practice-squad time to grow his skills, the receiver will hopefully suit up to see his first NFL game.

Hits practice squad

The Bears signed Adams to the practice squad Sunday, Jeff Dickerson reports.

Analysis: Adams was cut by the Bears on Saturday as the team trimmed down to its final roster. Sticking on the practice squad will give him an opportunity to keep growing in Chicago.

Heads to Windy City

Adams signed a contract with the Bears on Thursday.

Analysis: Adams, who came out of retirement with the Colts earlier this offseason but was waived by the team earlier this month, will now get a chance to compete in Chicago. He has yet to make his NFL debut since joining the league as a fifth-round pick by the Vikings in 2017.

Waived by Indianapolis

The Colts waived Adams on Sunday.

Analysis: Adams came out of retirement back in January and was subsequently reinstated by the Colts, but he wasn't able to stick with the team for training camp. He'll now be free to look for a depth role with another club after having spent nearly two years away from the league.

Back from retirement

Adams was reinstated to the Colts roster from the reserve/retired list Wednesday.

Analysis: The 2017 fifth-round pick didn't play during his rookie season but signed a reserve/future contract with the Colts in April of 2018, so they'll get the first look at him in his return to the league. Adams' senior season at South Florida in 2016 was impressive, as he reeled in 67 passes for 822 yards and five touchdowns while rushing 23 times for 231 yards. The Colts have a crowded wideout corps, so he'll have an uphill battle to make the roster.
