Back with Cincinnati

Morgan signed a two-year contract with the Bengals on Monday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.

Analysis: Morgan didn't factor much into the team's passing game a season ago, and he will likely serve as receiver depth and a solid special teams option in 2022. During his first three seasons with Cincinnati, he's tallied five receptions for 29 yards on 14 total targets and has one rushing attempt for three yards. Morgan also finished with 22 yards as a kick returner a season ago.

Set to become free agent

Morgan won't be tendered by the Bengals, so he'll become a free agent when the new league year starts March 16, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.

Analysis: Morgan appeared in all 17 of the Bengals' regular season games, but he wasn't a factor during their playoff run due to a hamstring issue. Regardless, he operated mostly on special teams and caught just two of four targets for 11 yards during the 2021 campaign. It's unclear what type of market the 25-year-old wideout will garner in free agency.

Practices in full

Morgan (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Morgan practiced in a limited capacity all last week, but it appears that he's now back to full health. As per usual, Morgan stands to operate primarily on special teams during the Super Bowl.

Limited all week

Morgan (hamstring) remained limited at practice Friday, Tyler Dragon of USA Today reports.

Analysis: Morgan was listed as a limited practice participant all week and if the Bengals were playing this Sunday, the wideout would have been listed as questionable. However, with the Super Bowl not until Feb. 13, Morgan has a chance to return to practice fully in advance of the contest and if that happens, he could head into next weekend minus an injury designation.

Questionable for Super Bowl

Morgan (hamstring) was limited at practice Thursday and Friday and is officially listed as questionable for the Super Bowl, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Morgan has missed all three of the Bengals' previous playoff matchups due to a lingering hamstring injury. However, the positive news is that the wideout has finally been able to return to practice, albeit in limited fashion. He's mostly operated on special-team this season, so his status shouldn't impact Cincinnati's offensive game plan.

Inactive Sunday

Morgan (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Analysis: Morgan didn't practice Friday and was officially listed as doubtful, so it's not surprising that he'll miss his third straight game. In his absence, Tre Flowers is expected to once again take over as the gunner on the Bengals' punt coverage unit.

Unlikely to play Sunday

Morgan (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's AFC Championship Game, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Analysis: Morgan was limited to start the week but didn't practice Friday, so it would be a shock if he was able to suit up. In his likely absence, Tre Flowers is expected to once again take over the gunner role during Cincinnati's punts.

Limited Wednesday

Morgan (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice session, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Analysis: Morgan was also limited during each of Cincinnati's practice session before being ruled out for the divisional-round matchup against the Titans. Ruled out for divisional round

Morgan (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's divisional-round matchup against the Titans, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Questionable against Titans

Morgan (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Titans, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Morgan was unavailable for last week's wild-card win over the Raiders and was limited during each of Cincinnati's three practice sessions this week. However, his status shouldn't alter the Bengals' offensive plans ahead of Saturday's contest.

Limited at practice Tuesday

Morgan (hamstring) was limited during Tuesday's practice, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Inactive Saturday

Morgan (hamstring) is inactive for Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Raiders, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Analysis: Although Morgan returned to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday and Thursday, he'll be unable to suit up in the postseason opener. His absence shouldn't significantly impact the Bengals' distribution in the passing game.

Questionable for wild card

Morgan (hamstring) is questionable for Saturday's wild-card matchup against Las Vegas.

Analysis: Morgan was held out of Tuesday's practice session with his hamstring injury, but he was a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday. However, his status shouldn't significantly impact Cincinnati's offensive plans.

Signed to 53

Morgan was signed to the Bengals' active roster Saturday.

Analysis: Morgan has played on special teams in the two games he's been on the active roster for this season, but he did factor in marginally as a pass catcher last season. Expect the second-year wideout to continue acting as depth for his team.

Shifts back to practice squad

Morgan reverted to the Bengals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Analysis: The 24-year-old made his second appearance of the season during a Week 13 matchup against the Dolphins, collecting two tackles over 19 special-teams snaps. Elevated to active roster

In COVID-19 protocol

The Bengals placed Morgan on the practice squad COVID-19 list Friday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Analysis: Morgan either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person, and he'll need to pass the league's COVID-19 protocols before returning to team activities.

Demoted to practice squad

Morgan reverted to the Bengals' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Analysis: Morgan fielded 20 special-teams snaps during a 36-10 loss to the Steelers on Sunday, though he did not provide any statistical contributions on the stat sheet otherwise. A Week 10 appearance marked the 24-year-old's first of 2020, after he suited up for 11 games in 2019 while recording three receptions for 18 yards.

Shifts to active roster

The Bengals elevated Morgan to the active roster Saturday, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Analysis: Morgan played 11 games for the Bengals last season, catching three of 10 targets for 18 yards on 146 offensive snaps. He's spent the entire season on Cincinnati's practice squad, but he'll get an opportunity Sunday versus the Steelers because John Ross (foot) is now on IR.

Secures practice-squad role

Morgan cleared waivers Sunday and signed with the Bengals' practice squad, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Analysis: The Bengals' receiver corps expanded and got healthy this offseason, so Morgan was cut Saturday. The group battled injuries during training camp though, and Morgan could be the first call-up if injuries surface again.
