Gets competition via draft

Robinson (knee) could face increased competition for playing time this season with the Giants drafting Jalin Hyatt (hamstring) in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Analysis: Robinson tore the ACL in his right knee during a loss to the Lions in Week 11 last season. He said in January that he expects to be ready for the opening of the upcoming campaign, but his status on the WR depth chart became more murky when New York took Hyatt with their third selection in the draft. Like Robinson, Hyatt operated largely in the slot during his college career, though the Giants could look to use him more as a deep threat given his excellent game speed. Predicting how targets will be distributed among New York's pass catchers is a difficult proposition, with wideouts Isaiah Hodgins, Parris Campbell, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Hyatt and Robinson -- along with recent addition tight end Darren Waller -- potentially playing a significant role in the offense.

Gets ACL repaired Wednesday

Robinson announced via his personal Twitter account that he underwent season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair the torn ACL in his right knee.

Analysis: Robinson will miss the rest of the season as a result of the knee injury he originally sustained Week 11, and given the timing of his procedure, he could be in danger of missing the start of the 2023 campaign as well. The 5-foot-8 wideout appeared in six games as a rookie, finishing with a 23-227-1 receiving line on 31 targets.

Goes on injured reserve

The Giants placed Robinson (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Analysis: Robinson was forced from Sunday's loss to the Lions early in the fourth quarter with a knee injury, and afterward he needed crutches to move around the locker room. One day later, coach Brian Daboll revealed that Robinson sustained a torn ACL in his right knee, thereby ending the rookie second-round pick's season. Robinson will finish his first year as a pro with 23 catches (on 31 targets) for 227 yards and one touchdown, while his two carries went for a combined minus-1 yard. In Robinson's absence, the Giants will rely on Darius Slayton, Kenny Golladay, Isaiah Hodgins, Richie James (knee), Marcus Johnson and David Sills at wide receiver.

Done for season with ACL tear

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Robinson suffered an ACL tear in his right knee during Sunday's 31-18 loss to the Lions and will require season-ending surgery in the coming days, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Analysis: Robinson becomes the third member of a depleted Giants receiving corps to suffer a season-ending injury, joining Sterling Shepard (ACL) and Collin Johnson (Achilles). After playing just nine snaps in the Giants' season-opening win over the Titans and then missing four straight games with a prior injury to his right knee, Robinson had emerged as one of the few reliable targets for Daniel Jones over his first five games upon returning to the lineup. In Weeks 6 through 11, the 5-foot-8, 185-pound Robinson totaled 22 receptions for 222 yards and a touchdown on 30 targets. Due to the timing of his injury and his upcoming surgery, Robinson is likely to miss the Giants' entire offseason program, and his rehab and recovery could extend into the start of the 2023 season. The Giants are now left with Darius Slayton, Kenny Golladay, Isaiah Hodgins, Marcus Johnson, Richie James and David Sills as their options at receiver.

Seen on crutches

Robinson (knee) was spotted using crutches after Sunday's 31-18 loss to the Lions, Jaclyn Hendricks of the New York Post reports.

Analysis: The Giants play again in just four days against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, and while a return timetable has yet to emerge for Robinson, it's hard to imagine him suiting up in Week 12, even in the best-case scenario. Robinson went down at the end of his ninth and final catch against Detroit and was unable to put any weight on the injured leg. New York will likely provide an update on the rookie receiver's status after running tests on the injury.

Sustains knee injury Sunday

Robinson won't return Sunday's game against the Lions due to a knee injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: On the first play of the fourth quarter, Robinson recorded a six-yard reception and was pushed out of bounds. He remained on the ground, though, before trainers helped him to the locker room, as he was unable to put any weight on his right leg. Robinson thus will finish Week 11 action with nine catches (on 13 targets) for 100 yards and one carry for four yards. The Giants have a quick turnaround for a Thanksgiving matchup at Dallas, so he could be in danger of missing time if the injury is at all serious.

Suiting up Sunday

Robinson (hamstring) is listed as active Sunday against the Lions.

Analysis: After feeling tightness in his hamstring at Wednesday's practice, Robinson was held out Thursday before managing another limited session to round out Week 11 prep. Coach Brian Daboll told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com on Friday that Robinson was "trending in the right direction" to suit up Sunday, and that has come to pass. Robinson thus will work in concert with Darius Slayton as the Giants' top options at wide receiver, with Kenny Golladay (hamstring) and Isaiah Hodgins likely the next players up at the position.

Questionable for Week 11

Robinson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: The rookie slot receiver felt tightness in his hamstring Wednesday and was held out of practice Thursday, but coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Robinson is "trending in the right direction" to play Sunday. Despite seeing only five targets the past two games -- his first two NFL starts -- Robinson has now played more than two-thirds of offensive snaps in three straight appearances and seems locked in as a key part of the Giants' low-volume passing game. Darius Slayton has also been a regular for about a month now, while the other WR spot still appears contested between Kenny Golladay, Isaiah Hodgins and (maybe) Marcus Johnson.

Not practicing, may sit Week 11

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Robinson (hamstring) won't practice Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Robinson will sit out after Daboll said the rookie's hamstring tightened up on him during Wednesday's practice, resulting in the wideout being listed as a limited participant on the Giants' first Week 11 injury report. Given that Robinson already missed four games earlier this season with a knee injury and now isn't practicing on account of the hamstring issue, he may have a tough time gaining clearance for Sunday's game against the Lions. Kenny Golladay (hamstring) could also be in danger of missing that contest, potentially leaving the Giants with Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins, Marcus Johnson, David Sills and Richie James as the available options in an already weak receiver room.

Tending to hamstring issue

Robinson was limited at Wednesday's practice by a hamstring injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Analysis: Since sitting out Weeks 2-5 due to a knee issue, Robinson increasingly has taken on a larger snap share over the teams' last four games, settling at 76 percent this past Sunday against the Texans. His limitations to begin Week 11 prep may be a precautionary measure, but his activity on the practice field now bears watching Thursday and Friday to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's contest against the Lions.

Limited impact in Week 10 win

Robinson caught both of his targets for 20 yards and rushed once for minus-5 yards in Sunday's 24-16 win over the Texans.

Analysis: Robinson won't enjoy watching the tape from his rushing attempt, as he tried to reverse field rather than settling for a minimal loss and wound up running into a negative play. The rookie's seeing consistent usage in the slot but has only four catches for 35 yards over the past two games after setting career highs with six catches and 50 yards against the Jaguars in Week 8. A visit from the struggling Detroit defense should raise Robinson's Week 11 ceiling, but his volume floor remains low in the run-first Giants offense.

Held to two grabs Sunday

Robinson caught two of three targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Seahawks.

Analysis: The promising rookie was coming off two solid performances in a row, but Robinson wasn't able to make an impact on an afternoon in which the whole Giants' offense struggled. He'll look to recharge his batteries over a Week 9 bye, and if the team's passing game can find another gear in the second half, Robinson figures to be one of the main beneficiaries.

Sidesteps injury report

Robinson (undisclosed) wasn't listed on the Giants' injury report Wednesday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Analysis: While Robinson was able to gut out an unknown injury after limping off the field in the first half of this past Sunday's win at Jacksonville, he wasn't targeted after halftime, finishing with six catches (on eight targets) for 50 yards. With a few days to rest up, he was able to avoid the first Week 8 practice report entirely, clearing him to be among quarterback Daniel Jones' top wide receivers Sunday in Seattle.

Oct 26, 2022 12:57 PM EST

Six first-half catches in win

Robinson caught six of eight targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 23-17 win over Jacksonville.

Analysis: All eight of Robinson's targets came in the first half, as New York made a concerted effort to get the rookie second-round pick involved early. He limped off the field late in the first half, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, and while Robinson stayed in the game, he wasn't thrown to after halftime. Robinson appeared to be hit below the belt prior to limping off, which would suggest there isn't an injury at play here, but his lack of involvement in the second half makes his status worth monitoring ahead of the Giants' Week 8 trip to Seattle.

Oct 23, 2022 2:33 PM EST

First touchdown in return

Robinson recorded three receptions on four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Ravens.

Analysis: Robinson returned from a four-game absence caused by a knee injury and immediately stepped into a significant role. He finished tied for second on the team with four targets and was two yards shy of leading the team. Robinson had a few highlights in his performance, including a 17-yard catch and five-yard touchdown reception -- the first of his career. He should maintain his status amongst the Giants' receiving corps, particularly if Kadarius Toney (hamstring) remains sidelined.

Playing in Week 6

Robinson (knee) is listed as active Sunday versus the Ravens, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Analysis: Suiting up for the first time since the season opener, Robinson could be limited in his return from a right knee injury after having a cap on his reps during Week 6 prep. The receiving corps has a different breakdown since the rookie second-round pick's last appearance, though, as all of Kadarius Toney (hamstring), Kenny Golladay (knee), Sterling Shepard (ACL, IR) and Collin Johnson (Achilles, IR) are unavailable. This time around, Robinson will be working with Darius Slayton, Marcus Johnson, Richie James and David Sills at wide receiver.

Questionable, but should play Week 6

Robinson (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens, but he's expected to play in the Week 6 contest, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: The rookie second-round pick looked as though he was on track to open the season in a prominent role for the Giants, but he played just nine snaps in a Week 1 win over the Titans before succumbing to a right knee injury that has sidelined him ever since. Even though Robinson was a limited participant during practices Wednesday through Friday, the Giants seem to have noticed enough improvement in the wideout's health to make him available Week 6. Robinson's status won't be officially confirmed until the Giants release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, and Raanan suggests that the 21-year-old will likely be "sprinkled in" to the game plan in his return with a light snap count. If Robinson does in fact play Sunday and escapes without any setbacks, he could see his role on offense grow in the weeks that follow.

Oct 14, 2022 11:50 AM EST

Stays limited in practice

Robinson (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Analysis: With a pair of limited practices to kick off Week 6 prep, Robinson at least appears to have a better chance to play Sunday against the Ravens than either Kadarius Toney (hamstrings) or Kenny Golladay (knee), with both of those receivers having not practiced in any capacity Wednesday or Thursday. Even so, Robinson may need to upgrade to full participation Friday in order for the Giants to feel comfortable making him active this weekend after the rookie second-round pick missed each of the previous four contests. The depleted state of the Giants' receiving corps should leave plenty of reps available for Robinson if and when he's ultimately cleared to play again.

Oct 13, 2022 1:32 PM EST

Limited in practice

Robinson (knee) will be limited in Wednesday's practice, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

Analysis: Robinson has missed four straight games due to a lingering knee injury. Last week the rookie fourth-round pick began practices with two straight limited sessions before sitting out entirely Friday, but it remains to be seen whether that represented any sort of setback. Meanwhile, Kenny Golladay (knee) and Kadarius Toney (hamstring) are not practicing Wednesday.

Oct 12, 2022 9:50 AM EST

Officially ruled out

Robinson (knee) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Analysis: It remains to be seen whether Robinson has suffered an injury setback, but his recovery obviously hasn't progressed as hoped for the Giants. With Kenny Golladay (knee) and Kadarius Toney (hamstring) also out versus Green Bay, Daniel Jones is set to operate with David Sills, Richie James and Darius Slayton as his top wideouts.
