Jones logged a tryout with the Packers on Monday, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Analysis: Jones was a casualty last week in order for the Giants to make room for Golden Tate on the roster, but as evidenced by this news, is getting looks elsewhere. The 27-year-old played three games this season with New York, hauling in three of four targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in that span. Jones has had a history in the league, so he certainly makes for an intriguing option to provide receiver depth.

Jones was released by the Giants on Tuesday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Jones was released along with fellow receiver Bennie Fowler to make room for Golden Tate and Josiah Tauaefa on the 53-man roster. The 2014 sixth-round pick appeared in three games for the Giants this season, but he only registered statistics in Week 2, catching three passes for 38 yards and a score. He'll now have to find a new opportunity elsewhere.

Jones hauled in three of four targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Jones played in 30 offensive snaps since Sterling Shepard (concussion) and Darius Slayton (hamstring) were out. Jones also passed Cody Core (14 snaps) on the depth chart. The 27-year-old won't have this consistent of a snap count when those two return, but for now he could have a solid role since Cody Latimer suffered a concussion Sunday as well.

Jones signed with the Giants on Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: With Sterling Shepherd is in concussion protocol, the Giants are bringing Jones back -- he spent the preseason with the team -- to provide depth at wide receiver. He played a similar role with the Lions last year, recording 19 receptions on 26 targets for 190 yards and two scores.

Jones was released by the Giants on Saturday, Ryan Dunleavy of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: The Notre Dame product was looking to earn a depth role in the Big Apple, but failed to do so. Jones also left Friday's preseason game with an injury, but per Dunleavy, the wideout didn't sustain anything serious.

Jones caught three of his four targets for 32 yards and a touchdown during Friday's 32-13 preseason win over the Bears.
Analysis: Jones led the team in targets and helped them surge ahead with a 15-yard touchdown catch courtesy of Daniel Jones in the second quarter. It was his first notable contribution since joining the team a few weeks ago and a boon to his case to make the team as it struggles with attrition in the wideout ranks. Jones should have another chance to contribute Thursday against the Bengals.

Jones signed a contract with the Giants on Saturday, Pat Leonard of NY Daily News Sports reports.
Analysis: Jones lands in a tumultuous receiving room in New York, with Sterling Shepard (thumb) working to get healthy for Week 1, Golden Tate (suspension) appealing a four-game ban and Corey Coleman (knee) out for the 2019 season. The 2014 sixth-round pick spent the last four seasons with Detroit, appearing in 42 games with 64 receptions for 814 yards and four touchdowns.
Jul 27, 2019 11:01 AM EST
Jones caught all three of his targets, putting up 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 31-0 win against the Packers.
Analysis: Jones saw an uptick in his involvement within the Lions passing attack towards the end of the season, collecting 10 receptions (on 12 targets) for 87 yards over the past three weeks, compared to 10 receptions for 108 yards between Weeks 1 and 15. He went crazy in Week 17 specifically, picking up two receiving touchdowns against the Packers after accounting for two touchdowns through his first 41 NFL appearances. With Golden Tate already having been traded earlier this season, Jones has a chance to enter 2019 as the Lions No. 2 or 3 receiving option, depending on whether the team elects to acquire another target in free agency or the 2019 Draft.
Dec 30, 2018 1:27 PM EST
Jones corralled all six of his targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 27-9 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Jones stepped up for the injury-riddled Lions, finishing 16 yards shy of Kenny Golladay's team-leading receiving total on nine fewer targets. The 2014 sixth-rounder came into this contest with just 10 catches all season, so he's likely to fall back into obscurity against the Packers in Week 16.
Dec 23, 2018 3:58 PM EST
Jones secured one of three targets for five yards during Sunday's 14-13 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Bruce Ellington (hamstring) didn't play in this one, and the Lions chose to roll with Andy Jones over TJ Jones as the No. 2 wideout behind Kenny Golladay. Given how much TJ Jones has struggled to produce over the past few weeks despite Detroit's desperate need for someone to step up at receiver, there isn't much hope he'll be a worthwhile fantasy option over the final two weeks of the season -- despite how much opportunity is available to him.
Dec 17, 2018 10:49 AM EST
Jones was targeted once but did not record a reception during Sunday's 17-3 victory over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Detroit has a dire need for playmakers to step up on offense and yet Jones remains an afterthought in the game plan. He isn't worth a roster spot in the vast majority of fantasy leagues, let alone starting rosters.
Dec 9, 2018 7:25 PM EST
Jones caught one pass for 25 yards during Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Jones had a touchdown called back by an offensive pass interference penalty, but he otherwise didn't see a single target until there was a minute left in garbage time. Even with Marvin Jones (knee) on injured reserve, TJ Jones clearly isn't a viable fantasy option in any format.
Dec 2, 2018 6:17 PM EST
Jones caught one pass for 15 yards during Thursday's loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Marvin Jones (knee) remains out of commission, but TJ Jones saw just one target for the second week in a row. Given how little volume the latter is seeing despite logging high snap counts, it's hard to justify TJ Jones as a legitimate fantasy play in any format.
Nov 22, 2018 7:27 PM EST
Jones secured his only target for two yards during Sunday's 20-19 victory over the Panthers.
Analysis: With Golden Tate in Philadelphia and Marvin Jones (knee) sidelined, Jones was expected to handle a larger role in the offense. However, Kenny Golladay (14 targets), Bruce Ellington (nine) and Theo Riddick (seven) ended up commanding the vast majority of quarterback Matthew Stafford's attention. It's hard to imagine things going any better for Jones in Week 12 against a Bears defense allowing just 6.8 yards per pass attempt this season.
Nov 18, 2018 4:57 PM EST
Jones should see extra opportunities with Marvin Jones (knee) ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Jones hasn't been able to take advantage of the Golden Tate trade, drawing just four targets the past two weeks while essentially splitting the No. 3 receiver job with Theo Riddick. Now down another wide receiver, the Lions likely will push Jones outside and continue to use Riddick from the slot, though Bruce Ellington and/or Brandon Powell could also get involved. It's hard to count on anyone besides Kenny Golladay seeing more than a handful of targets, but Riddick and Jones do at least offer some upside in PPR formats.
Nov 16, 2018 12:49 PM EST
Jones caught one pass (on two targets) for 12 yards during Sunday's 34-22 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: This marked the second game since Detroit traded away star receiver Golden Tate, and Jones again looked like an afterthought in the passing game. With the recently-signed Bruce Ellington a significant threat to steal playing time sooner rather than later, Jones' fantasy stock is returning to the minimal levels it was at while Tate was still with the team. As a result, Jones can safely be dropped in the vast majority of fantasy formats.
Nov 11, 2018 5:26 PM EST
Jones secured both of his targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 24-9 loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: Jones didn't enter the starting lineup despite Golden Tate's absence, as the Lions instead went with a two-tailback lineup with Theo Riddick and Kerryon Johnson to open the game. The Notre Dame product didn't see a huge uptick in targets, either, as the two looks he was given wasn't even a season high. While Jones could very well be given a heavier workload in future weeks, this first performance sans-Tate wasn't a very encouraging sign for his impending fantasy production.
Nov 4, 2018 7:36 PM EST
Jones and Brandon Powell are both viable candidates to replace Golden Tate after the 30-year-old slot receiver was traded to Philadelphia on Tuesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Jones did solid work while sharing the No. 3 wideout role with Kenny Golladay last season, catching 30 of 49 targets for 399 yards and a touchdown. The 26-year-old has spent enough time in Detroit to become acclimated with each of the three receiver spots in the offense, whereas Powell -- an undrafted rookie out of Florida -- has been groomed specifically for slot work. The situation could end up working in Powell's favor, especially after Jones was a healthy scratch for Sunday's 28-14 loss to Seattle. Regardless, it's hard to imagine either player drawing more than a handful of targets per game, as Golladay and Marvin Jones figure to take on some of the volume that previously went to Tate.
Oct 31, 2018 11:09 AM EST
Jones (coach's decision) was inactive for Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Jones was a healthy scratch for the first time all season. The Lions used Ameer Abdullah at kick returner with Brandon Powell handling punts.
Oct 28, 2018 6:24 PM EST
Jones snagged his only target for a 26-yard gain during Sunday's 32-21 victory over Miami.
Analysis: While Jones' lone grab easily represented his most significant offensive contribution of the season, it's hardly a sign of bigger things to come as long as Golden Tate, Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones remain healthy. The fifth-year receiver accordingly belongs on the waiver wire in most, if not all, fantasy formats.
