McCann (undisclosed) signed a reserve/future contract with the Titans on Monday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: An undrafted rookie out of Missouri, McCann lost the kicking competition to Stephen Gostkowski during training camp, and he spent the rest of the season on the practice squad. McCann can also punt, so he could look to seek that role in 2021.
McCann was placed on the Titans' practice squad injury list with an unspecified injury Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old was unable to win the kicking job in training camp but remained with Tennessee on the practice squad, but he's now managing an injury. Trevor Daniel was signed to the practice squad in his place.
The Titans signed McCann to the practice squad Sunday, Paul Kuharsky of 104.5 The Zone Nashville reports.
Analysis: McCann predictably lost the kicker competition to Stephen Gostkowski, but he'll stay with the team in case Gostkowski sustains an injury. The undrafted rookie is the only kicker on Tennessee's practice roster.
McCann was waived by the Titans on Saturday, Erik Bacharach of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: McCann and Greg Joseph were both cut after the team brought in All-Pro kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who quickly won the job in Tennessee. In his senior season at Missouri, McCann connected on just 16 of 22 field-goal attempts (73 percent), but he may be kept on the practice squad as an emergency backup.
McCann faces added competition after the Titans signed former All-Pro kicker Stephen Gostkowski this week.
Analysis: McCann, an undrafted rookie, was trending toward Tennessee's starting job during training camp, but the addition of Gostkowski almost surely signals the team's intentions ahead of Week 1. While Saturday afternoon's final roster cut-down will offer a definitive ruling on the matter, it now would be a surprise if McCann is retained.
