Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White has lost his starting job to lead back Alexander Mattison, and it doesn't look like that trend will reverse ahead of a Week 11 matchup with the Miami Dolphins. White had just six carries for 10 yards in Week 9, salvaging his fantasy day (somewhat) with a touchdown rush. Aside from the occasional score, he's not a great option in fantasy leagues considering his poor efficiency and lack of pass-catching upside. He's a low-upside handcuff, and that wouldn't change barring an unexpected shake-up in the backfield. Fantasy managers can hope he steps up his game, but after nine contests, things are much more fixed in this running back room.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White carried the ball six times for 10 yards and a touchdown and wasn't targeted in the team's 41-21 beatdown loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He averaged just 1.67 yards per carry and didn't see double-digit carries. This comes despite head coach Antonio Pierce indicating before the game that he wanted to get the third-year pro more involved in the offense. It's starting to look like touchdowns are White's only chance to be fantasy relevant this season. Without the starting job or receiving upside, he's not a player that should be started in fantasy leagues. Moving forward, his backfield mate Alexander Mattison will remain the starter, leaving the former Georgia Bulldog best thought of as a handcuff option.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (quadricep) is officially active for Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. The 25-year-old has just 26 scrimmage yards over his last two games, once again taking on the backup role behind Alexander Mattison. He should be avoided in most fantasy leagues this week.
Nov 3, 2024 12:07 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (quad) lost his starting job to his former backup, Alexander Mattison, ahead of his Week 8 matchup. He proceeded to rush the ball two times for negative-one yard after playing just 3% of the snaps in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He's unlikely to earn his job back. Head coach Antonio Pierce expressed his desire to continue getting White the ball, but it's unlikely he'll earn meaningful touches moving forward after such an ineffective performance. To make matters worse, he's designated as "Questionable" with a quad injury now. He's averaged just 3 yards per carry on the season. He's not startable in any leagues for now.
Nov 2, 2024 5:36 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (quad) was unable to suit up for Thursday's practice session. White was limited to open the week, but was unable to go on Thursday. Possibly, White was given a rest day on Thursday, but nonetheless it's concerning that he sat out. White missed two games due to a groin issue which allowed Alexander Mattison to see increased looks. Mattison played well during that time and appears to be the lead back going forward. White has only seen five carries over the last two games. He's worth holding in dynasty formats, but his outlook seems bleak right now. He appears to be stuck in a committee which is never good for fantasy value.
Oct 31, 2024 9:22 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White wasn't a significant part of the game plan in the Raiders' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. He carried the ball just two times for negative-one yard and was not targeted. Las Vegas' coaching staff is likely responding to his ineffectiveness this season by severely restricting his total touches in an effort to help the offense. He now averages just three yards per carry on the season, and it looks like he slid from a bench stash in extremely deep leagues to not worth rostering. While game script could have had something to do with his lack of involvement, he should not be started in any leagues going into his Week 9 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. It looks like the starting job now belongs to Alexander Mattison.
Oct 28, 2024 10:07 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White and his team will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8, and signs are pointing to an overall reduced role for the third-year pro. He had just four touches in Week 7, and though that was his first game back after missing two contests to a groin injury, he's been outplayed by backfield mate Alexander Mattison this season. The latter saw 26 touches last week to White's four. The former Georgia Bulldog has been given plenty of opportunity to shine but has come up short. He won't register as a start even in deeper leagues -- he has almost no pass-catching upside to salvage his fantasy scoring.
Oct 25, 2024 9:18 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) was able to return to play in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams. He was only given three carries, which he took for 13 yards, and one catch, which he gained 14 yards on. It's likely that he was used minimally due to the injury he was recovering from. It's hard to draw conclusions based on a game like this. Even star players will sometimes see little to no work in their first game back from an injury absence. That said, he hasn't played well this season, and is best left on the bench in Week 8, when the Raiders face the Kansas City Chiefs and their elite run defense.
Oct 21, 2024 6:45 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) is officially active for Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the right direction after logging a full practice on Friday. White will presumably operate in tandem with Alexander Mattison, who has played well so far this season. Mattison has more fantasy appeal than White given the former's productivity around the goal line and in pass-catching situations.
Oct 20, 2024 2:40 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White will face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7, and it's unlikely he'll have much success. He's averaging just 3.1 yards per carry this season and appears to be set to lose volume to fellow RB Alexander Mattison. White doesn't have much pass-catching upside, hasn't scored a touchdown this season, and has lost two fumbles. His highest scoring outing totaled just 6.8 PPR fantasy points in a game where he had four targets. He's had just seven targets all year. The Rams defense has been one of the league's worst, but Las Vegas' offense won't have Davante Adams, who was traded, or Jakobi Meyers (ankle), who is doubtful to play. White should not be started except in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
Oct 19, 2024 7:16 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin), who has missed the last two games with a groin ailment, was able to upgrade to a full practice on Friday, but he's still listed as questionable to play in Week 7 versus the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. White put in limited showings on both Wednesday and Thursday. The full practice session on Friday would seem to indicate that the 25-year-old is on the right side of questionable. However, in terms of fantasy, managers won't be in any kind of rush to throw the ineffective RB back into starting lineups this weekend if he's active on Sunday. The Raiders play in the later window on Sunday as well, making White even less attractive as a fantasy starter. If White is active, he will most likely share backfield work with Alexander Mattison, making him a low-upside RB3/flex, at best.
Oct 18, 2024 7:16 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) was limited in Thursday's practice session for the second straight day this week. White has been one of the bigger fantasy disappointments in 2024 for a Raiders offense that has tanked, especially after trading away All-Pro wideout Davante Adams this week. The 25-year-old White has missed the last two games due to his groin injury, which has allowed Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah to take over the backfield. White should get his chances when he returns, but he might have already lost lead-back duties to Abdullah. In four games played, White is averaging a career-low 3.1 yards per carry and has not found the end zone. Even if White returns to action in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams, we wouldn't recommend him for starting fantasy lineups.
Oct 17, 2024 8:15 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice as the team begins preparation for a Week 7 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. White has missed the team's last two games and has seen his fantasy stock plummet considerably after six weeks of the season. The 25-year-old entered the year as the expected lead back after Josh Jacobs departed in free agency, but it has been Alexander Mattison, and not White, who has become the Raiders' primary ball-carrier. Even if White is able to suit up this Sunday against LA, he might play second fiddle to Mattison in the backfield. The former fourth-rounder is averaging a career-low 3.1 yards per carry for 152 yards and no TDs on 49 carries through four games. White should remain on fantasy benches if he makes his return in Week 7.
Oct 17, 2024 1:07 AM EST
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) is "considered a long-shot to play" in Sunday's game against the Steelers. The 25-year-old missed a few practices during the week, although he was on the field in a limited capacity on Friday. However, it appears he'll miss his second straight game, so his next chance to suit up will be for the Week 7 meeting with the Los Angeles Rams. Without White in the equation, Alexander Mattison should handle most of the carries out of the backfield, with Ameer Abdullah picking up some of the slack as his backup. But no matter who is atop the depth chart at the position, they are expected to have a challenging day against one of the most efficient run-stop units in the National Football League, something for fantasy managers to consider before setting their lineups.
Oct 13, 2024 3:11 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6. White missed the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Denver Broncos and is in danger of missing his second straight game. The 25-year-old was unable to practice on Wednesday or Thursday before returning to a limited session on Friday. Even if White suits up this weekend against Pittsburgh, fantasy managers should only consider him for a starting lineup spot if they are in dire straights at the RB position. He's been a huge disappointment through the first five weeks of the season, averaging a career-low 3.1 yards per carry on 49 rushing attempts (152 yards and no scores) in four games. Alexander Mattison will see the majority of backfield work for Vegas if White sits out again, putting him in play as an RB3/flex in fantasy in a tough matchup.
Oct 11, 2024 6:14 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) did not participate in practice on Thursday, his fourth DNP in a row since last week. He wasn't able to suit up for their last game against the Denver Broncos after picking up a groin injury during practice last week. Now, it seems he's on his way to miss another game. White hasn't been able to find a rhythm as the lead back this season, and Alexander Mattison earned more carries even when White was playing. Since the Raiders haven't played with a lead very often, the backfield has suffered on top of that. If White still can't get on the field this week, Ameer Abdullah will slot in as the backup to Mattison again.
Oct 11, 2024 8:53 AM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) was again a non-participant at practice on Wednesday. White has yet to log even a limited session after picking up a groin injury in practice a week ago. Las Vegas was down a few notable offensive players today, with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (ankle) popping up as a DNP, too. The 25-year-old has begun the year on the wrong foot despite being given the opportunity to lead this backfield on the ground. Head coach Antonio Pierce had already been on record last week stating that Alexander Mattison had earned more work, and he will likely garner most of the backfield touches for the second week in a row if White can't play. Running back Ameer Abdullah mixed in for five carries and 42 yards -- including a score and a long gain of 40 yards -- while adding nine yards and three catches on three targets and projects to mix in behind Mattison yet again. The team will face off against a stout Pittsburgh Steelers defense in Week 6.
Oct 9, 2024 10:28 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) was considered doubtful to play in Week 5 against the division-rival Denver Broncos on Sunday, but he's now officially been ruled out after missing practice all week. The disappointing White is probably being dropped in shallower fantasy formats after disappointing through the first three weeks and now sitting out. Head coach Antonio Pierce already said after the Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns that Alexander Mattison has deserved more touches in the backfield moving forward. Mattison will get his chance as the unquestioned lead back this weekend, albeit in a matchup against a Broncos defense that has been surprisingly strong so far in 2024. Behind Mattison, Ameer Abdullah and rookie Dylan Laube will back him up. With White officially out, Mattison jumps into RB3/flex territory for fantasy managers.
Oct 4, 2024 6:06 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) is currently considered doubtful to suit up for the Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos. White was limited on Wednesday and didn't suit up for practice at all on Thursday. The Raiders already said fellow back Alexander Mattison was going to get increased reps this week. Now, Mattison could be the lead back with White unlikely to play. Mattison did a nice job last week as he rushed for 60 yards on five carries. He won't get an easy task against the Broncos defense, but increased snaps should help his value. He should be considered a low-end flex option, assuming White is unable to play.
Oct 4, 2024 2:47 PM EST
Las Vegas Raiders running back Zamir White (groin) is not practice on Thursday for the second straight day this week. White's status for Sunday's divisional clash against the Denver Broncos is now firmly up in the air. The 25-year-old will probably have to practice on Friday in some fashion to have a shot to suit up. It's bad news for a player whose fantasy stock was already on the decline. He has so far averaged a career-worst 3.1 yards per carry on 49 rushing attempts through four games in 2024, with head coach Antonio Pierce saying after last week's win over the Cleveland Browns that Alexander Mattison deserves more touches. Even if White practices on Friday and is active in Week 5 against Denver, it would not be a surprise to see White play second fiddle to Mattison in Vegas' backfield. If White is ruled out entirely, Mattison would have RB2 upside this weekend, with Ameer Abdullah backing him up.
