Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt is in a nearly 50/50 split backfield with Isiah Pacheco heading into Week 3. Pacheco is pacing the backfield in carries, but the duo is tied with 47 rushing yards on the season. Hunt and Pacheco have been so inefficient that Patrick Mahomes is actually the team's leading rusher through the first two weeks. Despite his struggles, Hunt has been the preferred back on passing downs and short-yardage situations. If he can hang onto this role in the offense and improve his efficiency, Hunt could be the most fantasy-relevant player in this backfield. The 30-year-old will have the opportunity to turn it around in a juicy matchup against the New York Giants. The Giants ceded 82 rushing yards and a touchdown to Bill Croskey-Merritt in Week 1 then 97 yards and a touchdown to Javonte Williams in Week 2. Given his short-yardage role, Hunt could find himself in the endzone this weekend against this porous Giants defense. Hunt will have to prove his worth soon with rookie Brashard Smith waiting in the wings, but he should have a chance to hang onto the role for at least another week. Hunt is ranked RB41 in our Roto Baller Half-PPR rankings this week, making him a deeper league flex option.
