Colt McCoy Released By Cardinals

Monday, August 28, 3:02 PM

The Arizona Cardinals released veteran quarterback Colt McCoy on Monday. McCoy has been getting reps with the first-team offense during the preseason but looks to be the odd man out after the team traded for Joshua Dobbs. The 36-year-old started 36 games and appeared in 56 games over the last 13 seasons, passing for 7,975 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions. He could have some interest from other organizations. After his release, Dobbs and rookie quarterback Clayton Tune will seemingly compete to be the team's Week 1 starter against the Washington Commanders. Both will have low ceilings in a mediocre Cardinals' offense. Kyler Murray (PUP) will miss at least the first four games of 2023.

Nathan Peterman Brought Back To Chicago

Thursday, September 21, 9:13 AM

Less than 24 hours after releasing Nathan Peterman, the Chicago Bears have re-signed the veteran quarterback to the active roster. Peterman will presumably be the Bears' backup to Justin Fields in Week 3 against the Buccaneers. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent will serve as the emergency quarterback. The 29-year-old Peterman has played in 13 games in his five-year NFL career.
