Davis Mills to be Available on Monday Night

Houston Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills (personal), whose wife recently gave birth, will travel to Pittsburgh and be available for the Wild-Card game on Monday night against the Steelers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Mills stayed an extra night at home to be with his family. The 27-year-old signal-caller will be active on Monday night as the backup to starter C.J. Stroud against Pittsburgh. If Mills hadn't been available for this game, Graham Mertz would have been in line to serve as Stroud's backup against Pittsburgh. Mills performed admirably for Houston this year when Stroud was unavailable due to a concussion. He appeared in six games (three starts), going 91-for-159 passing for 915 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception to go 3-0 for the Texans.

While he may not have the immediate impact of some of the other rookies in his class, if the Rams believe they have their quarterback of the future, the franchise has a proven record of investing around their guy. The 23-year-old signal-caller is one of the safest bets to hold value over the next two seasons, and at RotoBaller's dynasty QB26, Simpson could turn into one of the smarter long-term investments as a late-first-round pick in superflex rookie drafts.
