The Seattle Seahawks signed veteran free-agent tight end Eric Saubert to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to Seahawks.com's John Boyle. Saubert, originally a fifth-round selection (174th overall) by the Atlanta Falcons in 2017 out of Drake, will now join his eighth NFL team as he heads into his ninth year in the league. The 30-year-old spent last year with the San Francisco 49ers, where he caught 11 of 14 targets for 97 yards and one touchdown in 17 games (three starts). Saubert will remain in the NFC West and will serve as a backup behind Noah Fant and A.J. Barner in Seattle, leaving him virtually no fantasy appeal. Barring injuries to Fant and Barner, expect Saubert to mostly factor in on special teams. His best season came back in 2022 with the Denver Broncos, when he caught 15 of 24 targets for 148 yards and one touchdown in 17 games (six starts).

Houston Texans tight end Harrison Bryant didn't play a snap in Week 1 against the Rams since he was on the practice squad, but he's expected to be involved on Monday Night Football against the Buccaneers since Matt Stover (foot) was placed on IR and is out indefinitely. Bryant will serve as the primary backup behind Dalton Schultz, but Stover was very involved in Week 1, playing 57% of snaps and catching all four of his targets for 22 yards. While Schultz will likely get most of that work, Bryant could get a few looks as well. The Texans' offensive line struggled in Week 1, so Bryant could also be used as an extra blocker. He's not a fantasy option yet as just the TE56 in the RotoBaller Week 2 rankings, but it will be worth watching how Stover's looks are divided up this Monday night.
