Geno Smith Won't Play in Week 18

Wednesday, December 31, 3:41 PM

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll said that quarterback Geno Smith (ankle) will not play on Sunday against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in the Week 18 regular-season finale, according to Ryan McFadden of ESPN. "I hate closing the door on any opportunity, but it's going to be really hard for him," Carroll said. Smith suffered a serious ankle injury in the Week 17 loss to the New York Giants and won't suit up for a meaningless contest to close out the regular season. With the 35-year-old veteran wrapping up a brutal first year in the desert, backup Kenny Pickett is expected to start this weekend. Aidan O'Connell could also end up splitting time with Pickett against KC. Smith was one of the worst starting QBs in football in 2025, completing 67.4% of his 448 pass attempts for 3,205 yards, 19 touchdowns, and a league-leading 17 interceptions in 15 starts.

Josh Allen News

Josh Allen 'Good to Go' Vs. Jets

Friday, January 2, 12:04 PM

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (foot) will be limited for Friday's team practice, and is "good to go" for Sunday's home outing with their division-rival New York Jets, per Syracuse.com's Matt Parrino. The fantasy stalwart has battled a foot issue for a few weeks now, one he picked up in Buffalo's Week 16 win over Cleveland. Unfortunately, Allen would miss practice for the first time on Wednesday and Thursday because of it, although it's encouraging that he'll at least work in a limited capacity to close out the week. Barring any unforeseen setbacks, it appears the 29-year-old will suit up for the season's final game, even with the Bills slated for a meaningless clash with the visiting Jets. Fantasy managers still sticking around can rely on Allen as an elite QB1 if active, but should account for the possibility of the team benching him, particularly if they jump out to an early lead.
