Jared Goff's Pass Volume is Trending Upwards Heading into Week 15

Saturday, December 13, 12:15 AM

Across 13 games this season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has completed 70.1% of his pass attempts for 3,334 yards, 26 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Entering Week 15, the 31-year-old has thrown for at least 255 passing yards in six straight games. In Week 15, Goff will face a difficult matchup on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. Through 14 weeks, the Rams' defense is allowing the seventh-fewest yards per pass attempt (6.5) in the NFL. The Rams have also excelled at forcing turnovers, as they rank sixth in the league with 13 interceptions. With the Lions' defense struggling and their interior offensive line dealing with injuries, Goff has been forced into more pass attempts in recent weeks. After topping the 30-pass-attempt mark just once over the season's first seven weeks, he's attempted at least 33 passes in five out of his last six games. If that trend continues, Goff could have a chance to put up some numbers against Los Angeles, even without high-end efficiency. He profiles as a low-end fantasy QB1 in Week 15.

Deshaun Watson News

Deshaun Watson Expected to Stay With Browns Next Year

Saturday, December 6, 9:14 PM

The Cleveland Browns are planning to keep quarterback Deshaun Watson (Achilles) on their roster next season, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. While Watson is considered unlikely to play this season as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles that required multiple surgeries, the team has expressed interest in keeping him on the roster, noting that the 30-year-old's veteran presence is valuable for their pair of rookie quarterbacks in Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. Another big reason Watson is expected to return is due to the fact that the Browns would have to take on a dead salary of close to $135 million if they released him before June 1 and a $53 million cap charge if he was designated as a post-June 1 cap casualty. The record for dead-cap money was set by the Denver Broncos with quarterback Russell Wilson at $85 million, which they split into two years, but releasing Watson would cost the Browns significantly more. With Watson set to return in 2026, he's expected to compete with Sanders and Gabriel for Cleveland's starting gig.
