Julio Jones Announces Retirement

Friday, April 4, 7:32 PM

Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has officially announced his retirement. The Alabama product had an incredible run as a Falcon, with whom he spent nine seasons before serving three consecutive one-year stints with the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Philadelphia Eagles. Jones tallied 914 receptions, 13,703 yards, and 66 touchdowns in 166 career games. The 35-year-old is the author of the third-highest single-season receiving yardage total of all time and ranks No. 16 on the all-time list of most receiving yards in a career. Jones was a spectacle on the field, with a rare blend of size, speed, and physicality that sought to give any defensive back fits. The former sixth-overall pick of the 2011 draft holds an excellent case for becoming a member of the Hall of Fame.

Mike Evans to Miss 3-4 Weeks With Moderate Hamstring Strain

Tuesday, September 23, 12:27 PM

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) will miss three to four weeks due to a moderate hamstring strain that he suffered in the Week 3 win over the New York Jets, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. The Bucs don't think Evans' hamstring injury is as severe as the one that cost him four weeks last year, but the 32-year-old future Hall of Famer is going to miss at least a couple of weeks. The good news is that Tampa could be getting Chris Godwin (ankle) back in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles for the first time since he dislocated his ankle in Week 7 of 2024. Rookie first-round wideout Emeka Egbuka is probably going to operate as the WR1 with Evans out as the team eases Godwin back into the fold. Sterling Shepard will also see an uptick in targets out of the slot, and he's worth a look on the waiver wire for some added short-term production.
