Pittsburgh Steelers owner and president Art Rooney II said on Monday that it's unlikely the team will re-sign both impending free-agent quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this offseason. "I wouldn't close the door but I'd say it's probably unlikely. I think both of them see themselves as starters and I don't know that they want to share the same job again next year," Rooney said. Wilson has already said that he'd love to stay in Pittsburgh, but it's probably more likely that the 36-year-old walks instead of Fields, who opened the 2024 campaign as the starter with Wilson nursing a calf injury. Wilson initially gave Pittsburgh's offense more of a spark, but he finished off the year with five straight losses, including another first-round playoff exit in a defeat at the hands of the division-rival Baltimore Ravens. With former head coach Pete Carroll joining the Raiders, Wilson could be looking to reunite with Carroll in the desert.

New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito (concussion) was participating in drills at practice on Wednesday, so he's on track to clear the league's concussion protocol by Sunday in order to serve as the backup to starter Drew Lock in Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons. DeVito made the first start after the team parted ways with Daniel Jones in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but a right-forearm injury forced him into a backup role the following two weeks before he made his second start in place of the injured Lock in the Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The 26-year-old then suffered a concussion on Sunday, but he appears to be making good progress and could be cleared for a backup role this weekend. The second-year signal-caller underwhelmed in his two starts before getting hurt and will be New York's backup as long as Lock can remain healthy through the final three weeks.
