Treylon Burks Faces a Tougher Road to Consistent Targets

Saturday, September 5, 9:19 AM

Washington Commanders wide receiver Treylon Burks had a good enough summer to put himself back on the fantasy radar, but the receiver room changed around him. Burks was getting legitimate first-team work early in camp after catching only 10 passes for 130 yards and one touchdown in eight games last season. Washington then added Stefon Diggs, who is expected to handle the No. 2 role opposite Terry McLaurin. Burks now sits behind Diggs on the current depth chart, and the Commanders have talked about using him more as a specialized deep threat. That's a much different fantasy outlook than the possible starting job he was chasing earlier in the summer. Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, Dyami Brown and rookie Antonio Williams only add more competition for whatever targets are left. None of this is really about Burks playing poorly. Dan Quinn praised his speed and work throughout camp, and he clearly earned a spot in the rotation. There just isn't an obvious path to enough weekly volume for Burks to matter outside of deeper leagues.

Parker Washington to Return Punts This Year

Wednesday, September 9, 10:59 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Parker Washington said that he is the team's punt returner heading into the Week 1 season opener this Sunday against the visiting Cleveland Browns, according to Mark Long of The Associated Press. Washington came on strong last year as one of quarterback Trevor Lawrence's most trusted targets in the passing game and finished with career highs across the board in his third NFL season in catches (58), targets (95), receiving yards (847), and touchdowns (five) in 16 regular-season games. The 24-year-old former sixth-rounder from Penn State has continued to rise in training camp and the preseason and has been one of the most-hyped wideouts for fantasy football as he continues to develop chemistry with Lawrence. The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder will be exposed to more injuries as the team's punt returner in 2026, but that should not detract from his upside potential in an ascending Jaguars offense. Washington should be locked into all fantasy starting lineups against the Browns in Week 1 as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3/flex option.
