Ty Johnson News
Saturday, August 8, 8:14 PM
NYup.com's Matt Parrino reported Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson went down to the ground and immediately grabbed his right knee during a 1-on-1 drill during Saturday night's practice. The Bills' training staff helped Johnson to the sideline, then back to the locker room. There is currently no immediate official update, but the 28-year-old will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Johnson is currently listed as the No. 3 running back on the depth chart behind James Cook and Ray Davis, and primarily was used as the team's third-down back in passing situations. If Johnson has to miss an extended amount of time, Cook could see a big uptick in work on passing downs. Cook was viewed as an elite receiving back prospect coming out of Georgia, but he has mainly been deployed as an early-down runner in the NFL.

Chris Brooks News
Monday, August 10, 10:57 AM
Green Bay Packers running back Chris Brooks (hamstring) returned to practice Sunday after missing the first week and a half of training camp. He opened camp on the non-football injury list after straining his hamstring during the summer break, an awkward absence with the backup job behind Josh Jacobs still unsettled. Brooks handled only 27 carries for 106 yards last season, adding 13 catches for 91 yards, but Green Bay values him for more than touches. At 6-foot-1 and 219 pounds, he has earned praise for his pass protection and special-teams work. The timing of his return matters because Jacobs has been out with a groin injury, while MarShawn Lloyd took most of the first-team reps in Jacobs' absence on August 6. Pierre Strong Jr. also mixed in. Brooks is healthy enough to rejoin the competition now, but he has catching up to do after missing the opening stretch of camp. RotoBaller ranks him 248th overall in half-PPR. For now, Brooks is more of an insurance-back watch than a late-round priority.
