Fantasy Football Buy Low / Sell High

You are not alone in scratching your head looking at team records and fantasy leaders. It’s essential to remember that it is still early in the season, and there is a lot of time for anything to change.

Looking back in 2023, nobody predicted Joe Flacco would hop off the couch and play five games that blew beyond expectations and landed him the Comeback Player of the Year award. In the worst case, right now, you are 0-3. You and some players have plenty of time to get things rolling in the right direction. Gaining access to some great players is accessible right now as your league mates start to become squeamish about their rosters. For the guy in your league who just found out Christian McCaffrey flew to the other side of the world to see a specialist about his Achilles, give him a call for a wellness check. While you’ve got them on the phone, ask for Run CMC’s price.

Buy Low

Rachaad White, RB - TB

Everyone says to pick up Bucky Irving this week, and I agree. Now is the time to swoop in and poach White at his lowest price. Keep the same energy and mindset of what happens if Irving gets hurt. White is an elite pass-catching back. He has 2 more receptions than Mike Evans and only 22 fewer receiving yards. Tampa’s defense is injured right now and will allow points for most of the season. The game script should dictate a high passing volume from Baker and the Bucs. The upcoming schedule for Tampa is a brutal gauntlet – Eagles, Falcons, Saints, Ravens, Falcons, Chiefs, 49ers. Yikes, as a Bucs fan myself, this will be a test of mettle.

Tank Dell, WR - HOU

Dell is only 1% in target share behind Diggs right now and has 5 rushing attempts. He was targeted twice in the endzone and has home-run potential. Tank is a personal friend of Stroud, and the chemistry is undeniable. With an upcoming match against the Jaguars at home, you don’t want to be watching Dell catch one across the middle and take it to the house and remove his cheap price tag. This is within the realm of possibilities as he holds a team-high 14.4-yard depth of target.

James Conner, RB - ARI

Although he isn’t blowing up the stat sheets, neither is his backup, Tre Benson, who only had 2 carries in his last game. With an uptick in RB value and scoring this year, Conner’s rushing attempts are attractive. Currently 12th in the league with 46, he has churned out 189 yards. That’s only 7 yards behind Bijan Robinson, who has 2 more carries with 48.

Sell High

Kyren Williams, RB - LAR

Currently, he is the best trade bait on the market. He has scored a touchdown in every game so far, including a pair of tuddies on the ground and one through the air last weekend against the vaunted 49ers D. He also ran the ball on 24 attempts and managed to earn 89 yards, averaging 3.7 YPC. He currently has RB1 stats, which opens many possibilities to get whoever you want right now. Considering his past injuries, the sustainability of keeping healthy while the rest of the Ram's offense is injured is worrisome. Use the leverage you have right now to solidify a weaker area on your team.

Terry McLaurin, WR - WAS

His monster game is fresh, but his two duds before that and Kliff Kingsbury's messy ups and downs are in the wings. Yes, Kliff has been a QB whisperer but not a WR guru. McLaurin now has a team-high 23.7% target share, and beneath that, it is deeply spread out. Ertz, Ekeler, N. Brown, and Robinson Jr. all have 10%+ targets. Ertz is tied with McLaurin regarding receptions, and Ekeler is only three behind. With the small sample size and hype of Jayden Daniels, it’s time to cash out and load up.

J.K. Dobbins, RB - LAC

With Herbert injured, it’s time to pull the ripcord immediately. So much of Dobbins's early value has come from the lack of expectation and the threat of Herbert cooking you over the top. Dobbins rushed for 15 carries but only managed 44 yards. If the hype fizzles anymore, he will become a harder sell. Gus Edwards going 3 for 9 is a stat line that saved any remaining value left for you to more value for Dobbins. In a dance with the Chiefs this weekend, I am going to fade the Chargers getting ahead in this game and play ball control. Waiver wires are weaker this week than usual. Look for a leaguemate who needs RB's help and ship it.
