Lions Place Aidan Hutchinson On Injured Reserve

The Detroit Lions have officially placed defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (leg) on injured reserve Wednesday. Hutchinson suffered a gruesome leg injury in the Week 6 win over the Cowboys. The official diagnosis is a fractured tibia and fibula, which will keep him out for the remainder of the season. Up to this point, Hutchinson led the NFL in sacks with 7.5, and his absence will be a huge loss for the Lions' pass rush. He is expected to make a full recovery and could potentially return at some point during the 2025 season.

Aidan Hutchinson Expected To Be Out 4-6 Months Following Surgery

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson (leg) had successful surgery on Sunday night and is expected to be out for four to six months. Hutchinson is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season, but Campbell said that if anyone could make it back, it would be Hutchinson. The 24-year-old defensive end had surgery to fix a compound fracture of his tibia and fibula after a gruesome leg injury in the Week 6 blowout win over the Dallas Cowboys. He will return to Detroit this weekend and is expected to make a full recovery. Fantasy managers in IDP formats will obviously need to pivot and look for other options at the defensive line position the rest of the way. Meanwhile, Detroit's defensive unit in fantasy will surely take a hit after losing not only their best pass-rusher, but one of the best young sack artists in the game. The former second overall pick out of Michigan has a league-high 7.5 sacks after six weeks.

Aidan Hutchinson To Miss Remainder Of 2024

Detroit Lions star pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson (tibia) will miss the remainder of the 2024 season after undergoing emergency surgery Sunday to repair a compound fracture, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. Hutchinson suffered the injury while sacking quarterback Dak Prescott in the Lions' 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The third-year defensive standout completed the sack but immediately grabbed his leg upon hitting the ground and was carted off the field in an air cast. He'll now spend the night in a local Dallas hospital. It's a massive blow to Detroit's defense, as the 24-year-old led the league in sacks (6.5) entering Week 6 and is a formidable game-breaker off the edge. Defensive end Isaac Ukwu figures to pick up snaps with the injury to Hutchinson, and Detroit may seek help elsewhere with no other healthy defensive ends on the roster. The Lions will get a road matchup in Week 7 against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.

Aidan Hutchinson Carted Off On Sunday

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (leg) was carted off the field in Sunday's meeting with the Dallas Cowboys. The 24-year-old entered Week 6 with 6.5 sacks, the most in the National Football League. He recorded another on Sunday. Unfortunately, his latest sack may cost him some time, especially since he immediately grabbed his leg afterward and was placed in an aircast before leaving the field. This isn't a good situation for the Lions, so IDP managers are hoping for a positive update, which will likely come soon.

Aidan Hutchinson Has Favorable Matchup in Week 5

Detroit Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson has a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, in which he will attempt to record multiple sacks for the third straight game. The Panthers have allowed pressure on 28% of their passing plays, the sixth-highest rate, and the Lions have created pressure on 34% of pass rushes, tied for the seventh-highest rate. The Lions' pass rush has ramped it up in the past two weeks, as Hutchinson, Charles Harris, and Alim McNeill have combined for seven sacks. Hutchinson himself has recorded all 3.5 of his sacks in Weeks 3 and 4 and four of his seven QB hits. This week, he has a good shot to add to those numbers and is a quality start for IDP fantasy football.

Aidan Hutchinson Feeling Better

Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (ankle, illness) returned to practice on Wednesday. "I was hit hard a couple days ago," said Hutchinson, who has been out because of an ankle injury while also battling an illness. It's certainly a positive update, considering the 23-year-old finished his rookie campaign by logging 52 total tackles and an impressive 9.5 sacks. The Lions need him to stay healthy, especially since he's expected to be even more productive in 2023-24.
