Aldrick Robinson: Exits minicamp with hamstring injury

Robinson appeared to injure his right hamstring during Wednesday's minicamp practice, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Analysis: Robinson went down hard while running a route and had to limp off to the sidelines. The receiver was later seen with a bag of ice strapped to his leg, but Robinson did not need to leave the field. It's possible the 30-year-old could be held out for the remainder of minicamp with intentions of having Robinson ready for the start of training camp in late July.

Aldrick Robinson: Inks deal with Carolina

Robinson signed a one-year deal with the Panthers on Friday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.

Analysis: Robinson spent 2018 in Minnesota and caught 17 passes for 231 yards and set a career high with five touchdowns. The 30-year-old has never eclipsed 400 receiving yards in a season and is likely to serve as a low-volume big-play threat if he manages to make the 53-man roster.

Aldrick Robinson: Still available in free agency

Robinson remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Analysis: Robinson is actually one of the better wide receivers left in a thin market, coming off a 2018 campaign with 17 catches for 231 yards and five touchdowns on 35 targets in 14 games for the Vikings. He's typically struggled when tasked with a large workload, but his career stat line -- 16.5 yards per catch, 14 TDs among 86 receptions -- suggests he can give an offense a boost as a big-play weapon from the No. 4 receiver role. Granted, the 30-year-old doesn't offer much value on special teams, and his career catch rate (47.8 percent) reflects the all-or-nothing nature of his contributions on offense. Potential fits include Houston, Green Bay, Baltimore, Kansas City and Minnesota.

Aldrick Robinson: Held catchless in season finale

Robinson failed to catch any of his four targets during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Bears.

Analysis: Robinson was held without a catch for the second straight week, and finishes up the season with 17 receptions for 231 yards and five touchdowns. The 30-year-old's ridiculous 17:5 reception:touchdown ratio is indicative of his success on designed plays, but Robinson failed to make much of an impact outside of such situations. Set to become a free agent this offseason, it's conceivable that the Vikings could elect to re-sign Robinson as a situational wideout for 2019.

Aldrick Robinson: Catchless in Detroit

Robinson was unable to snag either of his targets during Sunday's 27-9 win over the Lions.

Analysis: Sunday represented Robinson's second catchless game in three weeks after just two such performances in his first 10 outings of the season. It's not easy to see things getting much better for Robinson. New offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski has pledged to be more run-heavy with the Vikings' offense and, through two games, Minnesota is throwing it 42 percent less than they had under John DeFilippo. To top it off, Minnesota draws a Chicago defense in Week 17 that has frustrated opposing passing attacks all season, though Robinson did reel in a touchdown grab against them in Week 10.

Aldrick Robinson: Hauls in touchdown pass

Robinson recorded two catches on two targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-17 win over the Dolphins.

Analysis: Robinson was effective during his 15 offensive snaps, as his 44 receiving yards ended up being a season high for the veteran. This came despite quarterback Kirk Cousins completing just 14 passes in Sunday's route. Robinson has just 17 catches on the year, though five of them have gone for touchdowns.

Aldrick Robinson: Little playing time Monday

Robinson did not have a reception and was targeted just once in Monday's loss at Seattle.

Analysis: Minnesota struggled on offense most of the game which limited targets for most of the receiving corps and especially the secondary options. After looking like he may take over the third receiver role, he played less than Laquon Treadwell (30 snaps on offense for Treadwell compared to 13 for Robinson). Robinson could get a larger role if Minnesota's new offensive coordinator decides to reduce Treadwell's playing time after frequent drops this season, although the offense has few targets for receivers outside of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

Aldrick Robinson: Draws nine targets

Robinson caught five of nine targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Patriots.

Analysis: Robinson played 43 of 61 snaps (70 percent) on offense, while Laquon Treadwell was limited to two targets on 22 snaps. Treadwell's consistent failure to contribute in the passing game seems to have opened up an opportunity for Robinson to work as the No. 3 receiver when the Vikings need to throw the ball in a comeback effort. The team does still appear to place some value on Treadwell's work as a blocker.

Aldrick Robinson: Catches one pass

Robinson caught one of two targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Packers.

Analysis: Robinson wound up logging more snaps (14) than typical No. 3 receiver Laquon Treadwell before halftime, but with Minnesota nursing a lead in the second half, the blocking-proficient Treadwell wound up with nearly double of Robinson's playing time. However, this development shows that the Vikings may be more inclined to roll with Robinson in clear passing situations, which could make the 30-year-old vet a sneaky sleeper in Week 13 when his team tries to keep up with Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Aldrick Robinson: Grabs fourth touchdown

Robinson had two receptions for 24 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss at Chicago.

Analysis: Robinson played just eight snaps on offense, but continues to display big-play capabilities with his fourth touchdown on just nine receptions. He had a large decline in snaps on offense with Stefon Diggs back from a rib injury after playing 17 and 26 the prior two games, however, so it may not be a good bet for his touchdown prowess to continue.

November 19, 2018 11:12 AM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Just two receptions Sunday

Robinson had two receptions for 20 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Detroit.

Analysis: Robinson played a season-high 26 snaps on offense, but it wasn't the windfall of opportunity that many expected with Stefon Diggs sidelined with a rib injury. He continues to get minimal time in the offense, but has big-play potential with three touchdowns in just 13 targets.

Aldrick Robinson: Expecting more playing time Week 9

Robinson is preparing for a larger role with Stefon Diggs (ribs) in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Lions, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Analysis: Robinson dropped a hint that Diggs isn't expected to suit up, likely leaving the Vikings without a player who has accounted for 10.6 targets and 60.8 snaps per game. No. 3 wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is an obvious candidate to take on some of the volume, but the Vikings also will need Robinson to step into a role in three-wide formations. The 30-year-old has caught just 46.8 percent of his 158 career targets, making up for it with 12 touchdowns and an average of 17.4 yards on 74 receptions, including three scores among five catches in 2018. If nothing else, Robinson makes for a passable boom-or-bust option in deep fantasy leagues.

November 2, 2018 3:56 PM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Just one reception Sunday

Robinson had one reception for 19 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to the Saints.

Analysis: Robinson played a season-high 17 snaps likely due to the Vikings playing from behind. He continues to get minimal time in the offense, but has big-play potential with three touchdowns in just ten targets.

October 29, 2018 9:53 AM EST

Aldrick Robinson: TD reception in Sunday's win

Robinson had one reception for a 34-yard touchdown on three targets in Sunday's win at the Jets.

Analysis: Robinson played eight snaps on offense and had his first reception since his two-touchdown game in Week 4. Robinson has big play potential., but he's not on the field much and the Vikings have been sticking with Laquon Treadwell as the No. 3 receiver.

October 22, 2018 11:25 AM EST

Aldrick Robinson: No receptions Sunday

Robinson didn't have a reception in Sunday's win over Arizona despite one target in the passing game.

Analysis: He played just six snaps on offense. Robinson's role in the offense hasn't grown, even after catching two touchdowns for 33 yards Week 4 against the Rams and with Laquon Treadwell's frequent drops. His role in the offense may not grow without a receiver ahead of him getting hurt.

October 15, 2018 11:52 AM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Role doesn't increase

Robinson played 15 snaps on offense but wasn't targeted in the passing game in Sunday's win at Philadelphia.

Analysis: Robinson's role in the offense didn't grow even after catching two touchdows for 33 yards in the prior week's loss to the Rams. He played just 15 snaps on offense compared to 30 for Laquon Treadwell. He could still get a larger role in the offense if Treadwell drops more passes (four this season).

October 8, 2018 11:42 AM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Two surprise TDs in loss

Robinson brought in both of his targets for 33 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings' 38-31 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.

Analysis: The Vikings surely caught the Rams and fantasy owners alike with their deployment of Robinson, who'd just joined the team a few days prior to a Week 3 loss to the Bills. The veteran opened the scoring by bringing in a 16-yard scoring strike from Kirk Cousins and followed it up with a 17-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter to give Minnesota a short-lived 17-14 lead at the time. Time will tell if the 30-year-old will be able to surpass Laquon Treadwell on the depth chart for the No. 3 receiver role, but Thursday offered a glimpse of what he might be able to bring to the offense as a complementary option.

September 27, 2018 9:42 PM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Gets first Vikings reception

Robinson had one reception for nine yards on his only target in Sunday's loss to Buffalo.

Analysis: He played nine snaps on offense, which is encouraging since he was only signed to the roster earlier in the week. It's possible he could challenge Laquon Treadwell for the No. 3 receiver role once he's more familiar with the offense, but the offense has had few targets for receivers outside of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs.

September 24, 2018 12:11 PM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Signs with Vikings

Robinson signed with the Vikings on Monday.

Analysis: Robinson played in all 16 games for the 49ers in 2017, catching 19 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. He may have a path to playing time immediately with Minnesota's wide receiver corps struggling behind starters Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Third-string receiver Laquon Treadwell had a few key drops in Week 2's matchup against the Packers, and Robinson has a previous rapport with quarterback Kirk Cousins, with the two having spent 2012 and 2013 together in Washington.

September 17, 2018 4:44 PM EST

Aldrick Robinson: Cut by Niners

Robinson was released by the 49ers on Friday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Analysis: Signed to a two-year, $4 million contract last offseason, Robinson caught just 19 of 48 targets for 260 yards and two TDs in his first year with the 49ers. He was never a good bet to stay on the roster after the team used draft picks on Dante Pettis (knee) and Richie James.
