Signs with Panthers

The Panthers signed Bradwell to a reserve/future contract Saturday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.

Analysis: Bradwell spent most of the 2021 campaign on the Chargers' practice squad and mainly played on special teams across his two regular-season appearances. He'll now attempt to carve out a role with Carolina heading into the offseason.

Reverts to practice squad

Bradwell reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Analysis: Bradwell was added to the active roster ahead of the Chargers' loss to the Texans with Austin Ekeler sidelined after testing positive for COVID-19. The running back did not see the field for any offensive snaps in the contest, but he did play on 15 special teams snaps. Bradwell will rejoin the Chargers' practice squad and await his next opportunity.

Joins active roster

Bradwell was elevated to the Chargers' active roster Saturday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: With Austin Ekeler officially out after testing positive for COVID-19, the Chargers are expected to operate a true running back committee with Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley, Larry Rountree and even Bradwell all seeing snaps throughout the contest. Bradwell was activated for his first game back in Week 12 but saw just five offensive snaps, failing to catch his only target. Don't expect the second-year running back to emerge as a major fantasy asset even with Ekeler sidelined.

Joins practice squad

Bradwell was added to the Chargers' practice squad Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Bradwell was a frequent practice-squad call up last season but made just two appearances. The second-year back performed admirably throughout the preseason, but it's hard to envision Bradwell seeing meaningful offensive snaps this season.

Parts ways with Chargers

The Chargers waived Bradwell on Tuesday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.

Analysis: Bradwell only contributed on special teams in his two appearances with the Chargers last season. The second-year running back will now need to seek out a chance elsewhere.

Staying with Chargers

The Chargers signed Bradwell to a reserve/future contract Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Analysis: Bradwell reverted to Los Angeles' practice squad Sept. 27 after fielding 18 combined special-teams snaps in Week 2 and 3 appearances against the Chiefs and Panthers. He never elevated to the active roster again over the rest of the season, but the former Tulane back will now be placed on the Chargers' roster when the new league year begins March 17.

Reverted to practice squad

Bradwell was reverted back to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.

Analysis: Bradwell has now been reverted back down twice, so the Chargers don't have the ability to shuffle the depth running back up and down again. He played 14 special teams snaps in Sunday's loss to the Panthers and didn't record any statistics.

Receives promotion Saturday

Bradwell elevated to the active roster Saturday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

Analysis: Bradwell played with the Chargers in Week 2 and stuck to special teams. Justin Jackson (quadriceps) isn't expected to play Sunday versus the Panthers, so Bradwell will once again serve as the No. 3 RB behind Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley.
